How to fit a bee sting aerial to an Astra.

One styling accessory that almost everyone wants or has already is a bee-sting aerial. These can cost from £10-£30. Normally the more you pay the better the product. For Nova owners, fitting them is easy.

Firstly, you need to remove the roof lining. This is easy with Novas, just remove the boot seal and put your hand up inside the lining. Now carefully unclip the metal rod which is held in place by 4 clips, the roof lining should now drop down at the back by roughly a foot.

Now you need to mark the spot where you wish to mount the aerial. This can be determined by measuring the width of the roof and then halving that width. Place the aerial about 5" forward of the top of the tailgate. Place a piece of masking tape at the point you want to drill. Mark clearly on the tape, the exact position to be drilled. The size of the hole needed is dependent on the type of aerial you have bought, this is normally specified by the manufacturer. Now drill the hole carefully and fit the aerial. If you wish the Aerial to function, run the lead down the pillar, through one of the sills and round to the head unit. Otherwise, the lead may be removed.

If you own an Astra it is a little more difficult. The trim covering the back of the roof lining needs to be removed. This piece of trim is very fragile so do be careful not to crack or snap it. Once off it is only just possible to reach inside the lining. Keeping in mind how far you can reach inside, drill the hole accordingly. If you wish to remove the headlining, all the interior trim that comes into contact with it will need to be removed as well as door seals and roof handles.

Most other Vauxhalls are similar in construction to the Astra and fitting is carried out in a similar way.
