.the company.
In February of this year, a toast was made with three frosty pints of Blanche de Chamblys;  a Mrs., a Miss, and a Ming became .maDAM..  The latter part of .maDAM. is an acronym of company's three members: Darby Gibbs, Amelia Laidlaw, and Ming Hon.  All three dance artists trained and graduated under the Senior Professional Program of the School of Contemporary Dancers, in Winnipeg.  Through their intensive years there, the trio has trained and performed under many of Canada's most prestigious dance artists, from Paul Andre Fortier, Marc Boivin, Sharon Moore, and Susie Burpee to countless others.  Now based in Toronto, these three fresh, young cheeky women are developing a new ideal for contemporary dance.  After a fortuitous meal in the early days of the company, a fortune cookie was cracked open to announce; 'Union gives strength.  Work Collaboratively.'    .maDAM.  aims to presents work whereby the process is an actively creative, open environment for all parties involved.  They have cut the traditional puppet strings a dancer is usually tied to by turning the dancer into the choreographer, as well as inviting the collaboration of artists of different mediums, and the audience itself.   The group is inspired to show work that is unexpected, tells a story, presents unforgettable imagery, is fun, and humorous, progressive and innovative, and produces an experience or dialogue with the audience full of thought and heart.
