Eskimos Doomed on Final Play

Edmonton came down to Calgary for the battle of Alberta , to kick off the 2004 season. Tied at 17, Edmonton looked to take the lead in the 2nd half. Edmonton on Calgary's 10 yd line, threw a pass into the end zone, which was picked by Calgary and returned to the Edmonton 37. Calgary would build a 27-17 lead, but Edmonton cut it to 27-24.

Edmonton passed up a chance to kick a 51 yd tying fg in the final minute, and converted a 3rd down pass to the Calgary 2, and scored on the following play to make it 31-27 Edmonton.

With less than a minute in the game, Calgary drove to the Edmonton 20 yd line with 13 seconds remaining. Flutie next threw a pass to the streaking right slot receiver who dropped it on the goaline. Now there are only 8 seconds remaining, Calgary still has a timeout. This time a pass to the streaking left slot receiver is caught for a TD with only 3 seconds left. Edmonton is shocked.
