Kansas Fights for Win
It came down to the last play where with one man to beat the CU receiver was dragged down at the KU 4 yard line, after juking and almost breaking the last tackle attempt.
The suprising #4 ranked Colorado Buffaloes came into #2 Kansas this weekend riding a 3 game win streak. The Kansas Jayhawks had a 3 game win streak of their own, and both teams meant business. Colorado was held to only 6 completions, but they were all big ones. Kansas took a 15-0 lead, but Colorado bounced back making it 15-7 and then getting a crucial 4th down pass interference call on 4th and long at the Kansas 35. Colorado scored on the next play to make it 15-14. With a minute remaining Kansas drove down to the CU 5yard line and downed the ball in the middle for a field goal attempt, the only problem was they had no timeouts and the last 4 seconds ticked away.
Colorado took a 30-22 lead in the 2nd half and had a goaline stand against Kansas. On the next series on 4th down from the four yard line, Kansas blocked the punt for a safety. On their ensuing possesion Kansas marched down the field and was held to a field goal, making it 30-27 Colorado. After intercepting Colorado Kansas went on a 40yd drive to make it 33-30 Kansas. Colorado next threw and interception which was returned to the CU 6 yard line. Two plays later Kansas goes up 40 to 30 with 2:15 remaining. Colorado would score with 1:30 remaining and kicked off to Kansas with the score 40-37. Colorado held Kansas to 4th and 2 with 25 seconds remaining. The next play would see the Kansas QB run into the end zone and waste time, taking a safety with 15 seconds remaining. After the kickoff Colorado had 10 seconds in which to score. Going deep to the left side, the receiver made the catch with only one man to beat playing deep, after a juke and getting by the man initally after a couple of bumps from behind the CU receiver was dragged down at the Kansas 4 yard line. Kansas had survied a ferocious defense, and last second comeback attempt by the Colorado Buffaloes.
