Loomis's scar on his cheek changes several times (often very obviously) through the movie. Especially noticeable in side-face shots.
When Loomis and Jamie are breaking into the schoolhouse, Loomis shoots the lock on the front door 3 times. After the third shot the slide on the pistol locks back indicating the pistol is empty. The scene cuts and magically the pistol is back to being loaded again.
When the cop car leave the Curruther's drive way, the parents cars pull in 2 seconds later. wouldn't they see the cop car?
You would think that the FBI would be involved. If a mass murderer escaped who was a federal prisoner the FBI should be involved right???????????? Maybe Myers is one of those government conspiracies like the JFK assassination, the Marilyn Monroe murder or Watergate. Maybe that Barry Sims caller was right in Halloween VI...."Myers is on the government payroll.
Did they ever go for ice cream? Jamie did want double scoops!!!! They never reveal that they did, however in the Halloween IV novelization both Rachel and Jamie go for ice cream.
Who ever heard of boarding yourself up in a house when a maniac killer is on the loose? I don't understand why Sheriff Meeker didn't take Jamie out of Haddonfield. I know I would skip town!!
Why does Loomis think that Michael is always going to go home? He did the same thing in the first film and while he was screwing around at the Myers house, innocent people were slaughtered by Michael Myers. Maybe the explosion in Halloween II jarred that out of his memory.
This is odd....the Ambulance at the beginning was NOT from Smith's Grove...it was from Smith Grove...it says so on the Ambulance itself!
Lindsey Wallace tells Rachel to go to the Discount Mart...not the drug store.
Is Brady a first name? I am curious!!
I know Kelly is supposed to be a free "spirit" but after her father, Jamie, Rachel and the deputy show up she continues to wear a T-shirt, no pants and a smile.
Why doesn't anybody notice a charred Michael Myers enter the grocery store? Maybe the kids are on drugs or something? Doesn't anybody notice that he stole that mask?
Rachel falls from a very high place but manages to survive only the slightest of injuries. She should have a limp or a broken arm at least.
In relation to my last statement, if she fell from a tall building shouldn't paramedics look her over? At the end of the film Rachel just returns to her home with Jamie. But nobody looks them over for any injuries that may have occurred.
Hoffman types "Michael M. Myers" when Michael's actual middle
initial is "A."
When Michael finds the picture of Laurie, it's a picture that was obviously
taken behind the scenes on the first one. It couldn't be a real one, because
it's of Laurie sitting with the pumpkin, but nobody was there to take the
picture.
At the beginning of the film, the orderly says Myers killed 16 people on
Halloween night in 1978. That count seems to be a few too many.
In the drug store, when Rachel calls off her date, Brady asks why she didn't tell him earlier. He says, "It's 5:00 now, Rachel." It can't be 5 because she just picked Jamie up from school, so it's probably around 3 or 3:30.
Michael's eyes were shot out by a gun in Halloween II (1981), but now they seem to have healed up completely.
Continuity and Other Production Errors
When Jamie and Rachel are riding with the rednecks, Jamie begins the ride by sitting on Rachel's leg, against the door. When the police stop their truck, you can then see Jamie has moved over to the middle, between the driver and Rachel. When they cut back when they're driving, she's moved again back to the lap. A continuity error.
As Rachel and Jamie slide down the roof, they look down and a bike can be seen on the ground. When Jamie ends up running to Rachel later on, the bike is no longer there.
Strange lighting makes the Shape appear to have white hair during a scene in the schoolhouse.
In the final chase scene in truck, The Shape reaches into the window and rips
Rachel's sweater open, but in the next shot it is back how it was, buttoned and
all.
At the Gas Station, the front of Dr. Loomis' car has four headlights and
vertical/horizontal lines on the grill. When Michael blows up the gas station,
though, the front of the car is different.
The male attendant in the beginning doesn’t enter the ambulance through the back with Myers like the female attendant. But, the next shot shows him back there instead of in the front where he went.
When Loomis parks his car outside the filling station, he stops past the last gas pump. The next shot shows his car much closer and he tries to fill it up.
At the garage, after Dr. Loomis shoots at Michael and then disappears, Dr. Loomis runs to the window to look for Michael. At a closer look (even clearer on the DVD) you can see the camera man's reflection in the window.
When Brady is trying to reload his double barrel and is shouting at Rachel and Jamie to "get up there," you can see that when Michael gets up to the same level of the stairs that Brady is on that the wall behind him is white and has some kind of decorative wall hanging or something to that effect. As the scene goes, it shows Michael, then it shows Brady fumbling to reload the gun, then a close up of Brady's hands, then back to his face, then a shot of Michael lunging toward him. The shot of Michael lunging toward him must have been a quick shot from a different scene that was just thrown in only because it was a few seconds long because if you pause it and watch it in slow motion you can see, especially on the new H4 Widescreen DVD, that the background behind Michael is of the downstairs - front door part of the house.
During the credits at the end, there is a character listed as Leslie. This person should be listed as Lindsey, there is to Leslie in the film. The mistake may have come in the fact that the actress who plays Lindsey (or Leslie as they call her in the credits) is actually named Leslie.
When Dr. Loomis and Sheriff Meeker are scared by the Halloween Pranksters with Myers Masks on, as soon as they pull out and Meeker starts talking on the radio, there is a car parked behind them. Then the camera pulls out and shows Michael Myers standing behind them -- notice the car on the left is gone!
At the end of Halloween 2, Michael Myers is almost burned to a crisp. However, at the beginning of the film the nurse removes the blood pressure mechanism from Myers arm and if you look closely, Myers has no burn marks on that arm. I guess second and third degree burns can heal with no scarring in ten years!
Jamie Lloyd's name in the original HALLOWEEN 4 script was Brittany.
Mike Lookinland was a Production Assistant on the set of HALLOWEEN 4. He played Bobby Brady in the "Brady Bunch" TV series.Mike Lookinland's wife played the murdered Penny's waitress.
Halloween 4 made $17.768 million in the US
Halloween 4's budget was $5 million dollars.
Halloween 4 was released on October 21, 1988
Beau Starr's (meeker) brother Mike starred with Jamie Lee in "Blue Steel".
He also appears in Dumb and Dumber as that fat dude pursuing Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels
Melissa Joan Hart auditioned for the role of Jamie
Alan B. McElroy wrote the script in 11 days and beat the writer's strike by mere hours.
The drug store set was also used in Stephen King's _"Stand, The" (1994)
Leaves had to be imported and squash was painted to look like pumpkins. The gaffer (Garlan Wilde) was seriously injured while the filming of the Michael and Brady confrontation. Garlan was putting up a light and fell and cut his wrists; he was quickly rushed to the hospital.
After viewing a rough edit it was decided that the movie was too soft, so they brought in special effects wizard John Carl Buechler for one day of extra "blood" filming. The thumb in the forehead and the redneck's head getting twisted were both done by him.
During the famous rooftop scene in "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers", Ellie Cornell accidentally slipped and her torso was cut by a large nail. Even after loosing a large amount of blood, she went right back and finished the scene a few minutes later. Co-stars said "It didn't even phase her." She also landed a role in 1992's A League of Their Own but had to back out after she learned she was pregnant.
In 1978, Michael Myers made the small town of Haddonfield remember Halloween. Now ten years later he's back!!! Michael has returned home to find his niece and this will be a Halloween that you will never forget!!!!
From Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide.
Unkillable monster is back, this time mindlessly headed for his hometown to murder his niece (young Harris). Standard horror thriller is technically well made but offers little novelty.
At one point this film was my third favorite in the series. It is a underrated movie that gets a bad rap because many people say that it is a Friday the 13th clone. Its premise is a little weak because how in the heck could Dr. Loomis survive that explosion in 1978. I know that Michael had to in order to keep the series going but why Loomis but I guess that the producers needed a star from the original to make this movie legitimate. The biggest disappointment in this movie is that the producers didn't continue the idea that Jamie should succeed Michael as the primary killer in the series. I have always felt that it was the biggest mistake that the producers made other than killing off Rachel in Halloween 5. Anyways I recommend this movie to people who just want to watch a Halloween film other than parts 1, 2 and H20. I give it three out of five stats. Go rent it, go buy it, do whatever you gotta do but see this film.
