Movie Trailer | Movie Review | Mike's Take |
The scene after the Man in Black arrives in Haddonfield Dr. Loomis explores the Myers house. As he walks through the house the man in black appears. How can he make it across town so quickly? Maybe the bus depot is across the street!!!
At the costume party, they introduce Jamie as Jamie Carruthers
rather than Jamie Lloyd. She could have legally changed her name over in the
past year, but assuming she didn't, it could be a flub.
Dr. Loomis says that his memory goes back 12 years to his burnt arm from 1978's
Halloween. But, H5 takes place in 1989, which is actually only 11 years.
Who came up with the idea to kill off Rachel?? I felt
that this is one of the worst decisions of the entire series. Rachel added
beauty and heroism to the storyline and it is unfortunate that she met here
death so terribly.
When Jamie goes into the attic, trying to hide from Myers, she discovers the
body of Rachel sitting in a chair next to the stairs (leading out of the attic).
You also see her body when Michael comes up into the attic after Jamie. When you
see Jamie running down the attic stairs, you don't see Rachel's body anymore.
Her body couldn't get up and walk away.
In HALLOWEEN 4, Jamie is 7 years old, but in this installment, Tina says Jamie
is a 9-year-old girl. It's tough to gain two years in age after just one year!
When Mike is looking in his mirror and Michael Myers drags the fork on the back
of the car, Mike soon gets out of his car with a crowbar. When Michael Myers
grabs him on the neck, Mike drops the bar. Notice it fell behind him to the
right -- then Michael Myers hits him in the head with the fork and Mike falls
back shaking. The pitchfork is on the right of him by his upper legs.
After Sam sees her boyfriend get the pitchfork through his body, she lunges at Michael with the same pitchfork. However, Michael grabs the pitchfork and slams her against the wall. As he slashes her with his sickle, you can see a bunch of blood splash onto his WHITE mask, but in the next scene, it is gone.
The address is supposed to be 45 Lampkin Lane, but the address clearly states something in triple digits (100?) when Loomis visits the house during the daytime.
When Jamie is talking about the "Big Cookie Woman," an officer tries to get a hold of Sheriff Meeker. Over the radio, the officer says, "Sergeant Meeker, what's your 20?" He should have called him Sheriff, however, not Sergeant.
During the car chase scene at the Tower Farm, the different camera angles reveal more than one person occupying the car that only Michael is supposed to be driving.
Can be spotted watching the H5 DVD: When Michael is coming down the river, as soon as he grabs onto the net and starts pulling himself up, there is something sticking out of the back of his left shoulder. It looks like it could be some kind of wire hidden under his clothes.
Can be spotted watching the H5 DVD: When Michael kills Mike with the fork, he lifts his arm to stab him and his sleeve pulls back. You can clearly see where the dark burn makeup ends.
Continuity and Other Production Errors
The Myers' house appears to be a huge gothic mansion, although the house appeared as a smaller Victorian house in previous films.
Notice Mike's car, it had no bottom lights on it if you look at it earlier in the film. But, when Michael is chasing Tina, Jamie, and Billy if you looked there were bottom lights on the car and they were lit up in several shots.
When Mikey is cleaning his car outside the liquor store, a set
light can be seen on the hood of the car as he wipes it down.
At the end of H4, Rachel tells Jamie to "Stay right here, in the
truck." In the H5 re-cap, she simply tells Jamie "I want you to stay
in the car."
When Tina is talking to Mikey (actually Michael) in the car, there's a portion
of the words that don't match up with what her lips are saying.
While Michael is chasing Tina and Jamie in the car, Michael's
position changes from the passenger seat to the driver seat several times.
Sammy's gloves are on again and off again, throughout the barn scene.
Sam's devil horns at the party keep disappearing and then reappearing.
When Tina is upstairs looking at herself in the mirror, she has her jacket on. But, when the doorbell rings and Tina runs down the stairs, she is carrying it. When Sam scares her, SHE HAS IT ON all of a sudden!
Jamie Lloyd's cut on the front of her face at the top keeps changing sizes
Look when Jamie hides in the hamper. There is a door to the left of it. When she falls down and after Michael starts beating the hamper with his knife, Jamie gets out. If you look toward your left, the door is gone.
The mask that Michael wears is supposed to be the same one that he had on in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988). Despite this fact, the mask has different facial features and the neck hangs down over the shoulders. Why can't the producers remember this?
Actor Matthew Walker (Spitz) also appears in Child's Play 3 as Major Ellis
Tamara Glynn was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader for the 1991 season, in 1988 she appeared in Growing Pains and in 1989 she was in Miami Vice
Don Shanks (Myers) has been involved in scores of tv shows and movies, including the first two Silent Night Deadly Night films, the show Touched By and Angel and in 1979 he appeared in The Incredible Hulk playing "Little Jim" in episode: "Kindred Spirits" (episode # 2.20) 6 April 1979
Another tag line for Halloween 5 was "He's Back With A Vengeance".
The Producer's cut shows the Man in Black abducting Michael and Jamie from the Police Station at the end. This is also shown at the beginning of Halloween 6: the Producer's Cut.
Halloween 5 was released in the USA on October 13, 1989.
Halloween 5 made only $5 million in the USA and 11 million worldwide.
In the original script, Rachel was supposed to die when Michael shoved the scissors down her throat. Rachel (played by Elle Cornell) asked the producers to rewrite her death scene and it was rewritten into the version that appears in Halloween V.
Fifth in the Halloween series and the fourth to feature the character of Michael Myers. It is close to Halloween 1989 and Jamie (the heroine of H4) is in Haddonfield's Children's Hospital after attacking her step-mother the year previously. She is being treated by Dr. Loomis with the aid of her step-sister Rachel and Rachel's friend Tina but she hasn't said a word since the attack but to her horror discovers that she has a mind-link to her murdering uncle, Michael who has spent the year recovering from his wounds in a coma and awakes to again go after Jamie. His plan is to lure Jamie out of the hospital by going after Tina (who is going to a Halloween party) and by murdering Rachel. Jamie knows that she must leave the hospital to save herself and with the aid of Dr. Loomis set out to defeat Michael on his own home ground - The Myers house...
From Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide.
Slightly more plot than before but still just a sequential slaughter of teenagers as Michael Myers (Shanks) again sets out to kill his young niece (Harris). Routine and plodding, with too many endings and unnecessary setup for sequel.
I always liked Halloween V even though its plot and acting aren't the greatest. I wish they producers would do more with the plot and less with fancy killings. Halloween always seemes to be in competition with Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. I think a better plot would blow them out of the water. I love the idea of putting another Michael in the film but I despised the fact that Rachel was killed off. She was a great character that gave the storyline some creditably. I also feel that the character of Tina gets a bad rap from fans. She is a little wild but I think that replacing Rachel with Tina wasn't a good idea. I give this film 2 out of 5 stars.
