Synopsis
The race of the Arigami emerged in Japan fifteen years ago when the birth of the twin Kushinada sisters triggered this event. Arigami are horrific plant demons that only wants the destruction of the world. Momiji Fujimiya, who just recently found out about her identity as a Kushinada princess, is the destined one to put a stop to the Arigami only by sacrificing herself for the sake of the whole. Slowly Momiji uncovers more and more secrets of the Arigami's objective with the help of a group of goverment institution (Terrestrial Administrative Center) and her protecter Mamoru Kusanagi. As the truth about the disappearance of Momiji's twin sister unfolds, the love between Momiji and Kusanagi also unfolds...

Story/Plot: 7.5
Like many other stories, the plot of 'monsters appearing and the world could be only saved by a heroine' is already overused. Even though story is predictable most of the time, it still keeps the viewer on the edge of their seats. Each episode is still full of suspense and action that will keep you company, let alone the tad bit of romance that Takada-sensei did excellent in adding to the plot. Though it seems like some points are expectable, don't under-estimate the depth of the story. There are often many twists and turns that contributes to the development of the characters and the plot. However, the anime did not excite me until after atleast the first 7 episodes.

Characters: 7
The characters overall is great, but it's lacking a few things. First, I think the charaters need to be more detailed. Only some tiny bits and pieces are covered on the important supporting characters, and even the main characters are lacking some understanding for the viewers. Take Kaede, for instance, I don't think most of us know actually why she decided to side with Susano-oh. The reason that the anime gave us for this is not indepth enough, and even I myself have a hard time accepting the fact. Secondly, I think it wouldn't hurt if more time could be spent on the character designs. Especially the members of the TAC, since they look just as minor as some of the other characters. Even Momiji herself looks too overused among other anime series that I've seen. What the anime need is unique character designs where you can recognize the characters out of the blue.

Art: 6
It's not actually the best art one can imagine. The quality and graphics is great, but more improvements can be made on the style of the anime. Again, I wasn't quite impressed with the overall art of the anime and I feel it's not capturing the talent of Takada's work. His collection of original art is actually quite impressive. Of course, according to the old saying, Never judge a book by its cover.

Music: 8.5
The opening and ending theme alone was simply excellent. It completely portrayed the mood of the anime in the music itself which made it an enjoyable anime to watch. The background music was also spectacular, especially soundtrack 'Ai Ha Sadame, Sadame Ha Shi' which comes in a variety of different mixes for different situations. The only thing that kept me from giving it full marks is some of the character singles really sounded horrible, especially Sakura's song. Click here for more details on music ratings.
