"I believe true love is much more wonderful. Even if there are painful things, you can always be the heroine." - Yomiko Readman
Reviewer: Calliston
Story/Plot: 7
While the plot is not that strong, and it does leave out details, I have never seen anything like it. The power, especially Yomiko’s paper power, is incredible to watch, with some of the coolest fight scenes I've seen. Still, making it a bit longer would've definitely helped. I really feel that more detail was needed. However, the series, RODTV, picks up the pieces of where it leaves off.
Characterization: 8
All characters are given a specific trademark, with Ms. Deep awesome ability to go through objects, and Yomiko’s power over paper accenting the entire series. Even though the cast is hardly given a background, all the main characters are given development even though the series is so short.
Art/Animation: 10
The art is definitely worth noting. It has a distinctive style that fits the entire theme of the series very nicely. The art looks great, especially some of the more detailed parts, like the fire, the paper, and the backgrounds. And I have never seen a main character looked like Yomiko Readman. The action scenes, are done originally, with characters not winning with sheer power and coming out unscratched, but with strategy and brains behind the schemes. Not only that, but they're realistic - well, as realistic as you can get given the abilities of the characters - as they make sacrifices to win and get through.
Music: 9
The music is highly recommended. Yoko Kanno really does the theme well, as it’s jazzy and spunky, with a slight accent of James Bond and Mission Impossible. It’s really enjoyable to listen to.
