"KAMLIN!!!!!!" Tessa screeched as she searched for the red. The 'brave' red Hathian was cowering behind his silver brother. He may be hundreds of times bigger than Tessa, but he wasn't stupid. When she yelled like that, you hid.
Greth rolled his eyes. What did you do now brother? The silver helpfully spred his wings to hide Kamlin.
The smaller red grinned thankfully at his brother. She thinks I soaked her.
Did you?
The red smirked. That's besides the point.
Greth rolled his eyes. When are you going to grow up?
Kamlin snorted at his silver brother. When you get over yourself.
Mercayin smiled. "Tessa. He's over here."
Kamlin glared at his rider. Hey! You're supposed to be on my side.
Mercanyin raised a brow and smirked. "Just yesterday you were bragging about how you could take on the world. Surely you're not scared of Tessa?"
Kamlin looked around for the creature. Tessa's not someone you fight with, she's more than mortal, she's...
Here. Greth added in a monotone voice.
Kamlin jumped behind Mercanyin as Tessa came into view.
"Kamlin." Tessa said the name like it left a dirty taste in her mouth. Mercanyin grinned. It was funny to see the huge dragon cowering in front of Tessa, who was the size of a large dog. Greth snorted. The silver fully believed his immature brother deserved whatever he was going to get.
Ummm....hi Tessa. The red dragon kept low to the ground and backed up slowly. He tried to look sorry for what he'd done, but had to hid a smirk. Tessa was still wet.
Mercanyin broke out in laughter at her appearence. Tessa glared at her friend. "You stay out of this! Kamlin. Were you swimming today? About 15 minutes ago?"
Kamlin looked uncomfortable. Maybe. I don't really remember. I've done a lot of things today. Maybe I swam... Kamlin continued to back up.
Enough. Greth commanded in his normally haughty voice. Someone's coming.
Mercanyin peeled his gaze away from the amusing scene and grabbed his sword. He immeadiatly mounted Greth. "Where?"
Kamlin lifted his head from the ground and smelled the air. I don't smell anything...
Greth snorted. I heard it you idiot!
Kamlin snorted and stood up straight, ignoring Tessa's glare. The red sniffed the air again and looked around. I smell them. He stated quietly, hating to admit that Greth could be right.
Mercanyin opened his mouth and would have said something, but at that moment the Chaos Hydra exploded into the clearing. Without pause it headed for Kamlin. The red roared and rushed into battle.
"Kamlin!" Mercanyin swore. He tightened his grip on Greth as the silver charged into battle to help his brother. Tessa screeched as one of the heads got a little too close for comfort. Mercanyin jumped from Greth's back as a head tried to make a meal out of him. He tried to avoid heads and save Tessa at the same time. Three heads swirved above Tessa who was trying to hold them off with her magic breath. Mercanyin roared a battle cry and tried desperatly to reach her. I won't make it! His heart stopped as he came to that realization. I'm too far away!. "Tessa!" He screamed. She was tiring, she collapsed. She tried to get up, but fell again. Mercanyin shut his eyes against what he knew was bound to happen....
The air around Mercanyin and Tessa suddenly became super-heated. Fire swirled from Kamlin's mouth into the Chaos Hydra. Need some help? Kamlin stood protectively over Tessa. Mercanyin sighed and turned to see how Greth was doing.
The silver was easily holding his own. He bit and tore off heads, blasting the stumps with ice to stop them from re-growing. Before Mercanyin could decide whether or not to go help his silver, the battle was over. The Chaos Hydra retreated. He sighed. That was too close.
"Mercanyin!" Tessa voice carried well in the clearing. He turned to see her standing beside Kamlin. The red wasn't breathing.
Greth, who had collapsed in exhaustion when the hydra left, opened his eyes. He swore fluently, a rare thing for the honourable silver.
Mercanyin ran to his red, swearing the whole way. Tessa was crying. "Mercanyin....what do I do? Is he okay? What do I do?" She was hysterical. Mercanyin froze when he got close. Something wasn't right....Kamlin didn't look that injured...he wasn't even that cut up.....
Tessa ran to Kamlin's head and started rubbing her own against it. She was still crying and muttering. Greth was staring stunned at his fallen brother. Mercanyin smirked, figuring it out.
Awww Tessa. I never knew you cared so much.
Greth sighed and collapsed again, cursing the immaturity of his sibling. Tessa froze, wide-eyed. "Wha-What?"
Kamlin stood up and shook himself off. All I have to do is die and suddenly you love me.
Tessa glared. "Why you....you...you..." In her anger she couldn't find the appropriate word.
"Idiot?" Mercanyin offered.
Tessa glared at him, then heavenward. "I don't know why I put up with you."
Greth sighed. Neither do I.
Kamlin grinned. At least Tessa isn't yelling at me anymore. He thought to himself. If I heard correctly, He stated, trying to remember the exact words Tessa had said when she'd thought that he was dead. You said that you loved me, that you weren't really mad at me, that you wish you hadn't been that mean to me, that...
Tessa cut him off with a growl. "You haven't seen mad."
As Tessa and Kamlin faught, Mercanyin leaned against Greth. He sighed as the argument continued. "Why do I put up with you guys?"
Greth smiled. You bonded to me and Kamlin. Tessa's still a mystery.
Mercanyin laughed. "Isn't she?"
