    In this section we comment some things of Magüi's career that seem curious to us.

Did you know that Magüi was able to win by 6-0 and 6-0 once in her career?.It was in 1996 in the challenger in Limoges, and the player that was defeated by Magüi was the French Sophie Regnier. Fortunately, Magüi has never lost by this score.

Did you know that Magüi’s record of consecutive wins is 14 wins in a row?. She could achieve this in 2003, with an incredible run winning two WTA tournaments, two Fed Cup matches, and reaching the quarters in Warsaw. An anecdote, the first defeat after this incredible run was in a match against Dokic, and when Magüi was serving to reach the tie break, a wasp stang her and a doctor had to come to court. In spite of this, Magüi continued playing, but she could do nothing to avoid the defeat. We’ll never know what would had happened if this wasp hadn’t appeared there... ;).

Did you know that Magüi has played doubles with many different players?. Among her most ‘distinguished’ partners we can mention players such as Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, Conchita Martínez, Virginia Ruano, Justine Henin, Jennifer Capriati, Chanda Rubin, Kim Clijsters, Sandrine Testud, Magdalena Maleeva, Daniela Hantuchova...

Did you know that Magüi is the only Spanish player whith whom the great Spanish doubles player Virginia Ruano has won a title?. It was in Knokke-Heist in 2001.

Did you know that Magüi is the third Spanish player that has played more singles matches in the Fed Cup?.

Did you know that Magüi was able to defeat her idol, Steffi Graf, in Montreal in 1998?. The score was 6-4 and 6-4 for Magüi. Other important wins for Magüi have been against Mary Pierce, Jana Novotna, Chanda Rubin, Justine Henin, Serena Williams...

Did you know that Magüi is the only player that has been able to win the tournament in Estoril two consecutive times?. It was in 2002 and 2003.

Did you know that Magüi reached the junior final in Wimbledon in 1996?. She lost ind the final to the French Mauresmo in three sets.

Did you know that Magüi has never lost to the great Belgian player Justine Henin in the two times they’ve played each other?. In fact, she has never lost a set to her.

Did you know that Magüi has been able to defeat the American Serena Williams?. It was in the qualifying in Los Ángeles, in 1997, and Magüi defeated the American player in three sets.

Did you know that Magüi has reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slams in singles and the semifinals of another one in doubles?. In singles she reached the quarters in Wimbledon 2000, and in doubles she reached the semifinals in the Australian Open 2002 with Conchita Martínez.

Did you know that Magüi had to retired once during a singles match due to an injury?. It was in Birmingham 2000, when Magüi was playing a close match against Jennifer Capriati and the score was 6-2 2-6 3-4.

Did you know that Magüi has played three times in her career the mixed doubles?. It was at Wimbledon 2001 (and her partner was the veteran Australian Kratzmann), at the Australian Open 2004 (and her partner was Mark Merklein, from the Bahamas) and at Roland Garros 2004 (and her partner was the Argentinian Martín Rodríguez).

Did you know that Magüi has won twice the Eastbourne Cup?. It’s a tournament that some players that haven’t gone far in the ‘real’ tournament play. It doesn’t give ranking points, but it’s useful to prepare Wimbledon, which is played the following week.

Did you know that Magüi has been able to play the Olympic Games in her career?. It was in Sydney 2000. She wasn’t too lucky, but at least she had the chance of living the Olympic spirit.

Did you know that in many of the years that Magüi has played the tournament in Madrid, the player that defeats Magüi during the tournament reaches the final but loses it?.

Did you know that Magüi has won some matches having had match points against her?. There might have been more cases, but the ones we have found for the moment are :

Nasdaq-100 Open 2004: 2nd round: Magüi Serna d. Jamea Jackson 3-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-2, saved at least three match points.

Roland Garros 2004: 1st round: Magüi Serna d. Akiko Morigami 6-3 3-6 8-6, two match points saved.
