I'm Gonna be an Angel!

What:
"I'm Gonna be an Angel!" (Tenshi ni Narumon!) is a very strange anime about a student named Yuusuke and a girl named Noelle. Noelle sees Yuusuke one day and falls in love with him. From then on, Yuusuke is drawn into Noelle's strange family when they move into his place. Witches, a vampire, a monster, an elf and an invisible girl make up Noelle's family. Unfortunately, a man named Dispel is after Noelle for a reason that shocked me, and many other viewers that watched as well.

The Good:
"Tenshi" is very very strange, but in a funny way. Alot of times, this anime doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's one of it's great points. At the same time, the anime is extremely serious, as is the case for the last few episodes. The series really balances itself out. Also, there are tons of mysteries in the series that really hook you, like my favorite character, Mikael, and his importance, which doesn't come around until the last half of the series. Or the story behind Dispel asnd Silky, which I found one of the most startling mysteries of all.

The Bad:
I'm sure more than a few people out there will find Noelle annoying. I mean REALLY annoying. She's a main character as well, which could prove to be problematic to you. Also, this series can be easily tossed aside if someone disregards it's plot. The sugar high antics and surrealism of the series can be major turn offs for some. That, and I really hate the ending song.

The Bottom-Line:
One of my favorite series of all time, and here's why. The series grabs you by the seat of your pants with hilariously wacky scenes, and, at the same time, makes you ask "What's he doing?" or "Why did he do that?" or "What's he going to do next!?". Those kinds of questions are what really make it a pleasure to stay with the series to the very end. A quality series in my eyes.

The Dub:
A very, very excellent dub. David Lucas accomplishes an amazing feat as Yusuke and Diane Kou does so even more in a delightful way as Noelle. Dispel's voice is dead on, and the only character I have a problem with is the father, whose voice tends to be overly silly and goofy.
