6-23-00 I am finally
ready to start on my 1982 Zephyr. I am fabricating subframe connectors for it. I
suppose I could buy some but in reading up on them mine
will be a little beefier and being custom made will fit
very well with the stock components.

Working on driveshaft loop
to meet NHRA and local track rules if I choose to run
slicks.

Of course you must have a good shifter. I picked the B&M Starshifter
for its low price and a name that will be backed up. I
wasn't happy with the connecting cable though, because
they kept breaking. After I broke three of them on my
other car I modified a hefty cable I had laying around at
work. From time to time they throw out these cables after
not much use, so I grabbed 2. Hey
I Recycled something. Of
course it doesnt take a genius to know that the
first recyclers were hotrodders. Take an old car, fix it
up, make it worth something. Use parts from auto salvage
yards. Test it, tune it and keep it around for years of
enjoyment. Most people don't understand that true hot
rods are kept in peak shape and without all the emissions
crap on them usually put out less pollution than
todays new cars. At least mine does at the
emissions station, to the amazement of the attendants.
With no cats and of course no air pump because the 1969
289cid heads won't accept it.

I also made an anti-torque bar,
which gets mounted, between the frame and the engine. I
broke three motor mounts in my previuos car so I am being
on the safe side. This too is very beefy and should last
a long time.

I used the 7.5-inch rearend out of my other car for this
project because it has an Auburn posi in it.
