In the beginning was Kraftwerk who were from the Kraut Rock tribes in the land of Dusseldorf. Over time they transformed their essence to become fully electronic and it was rumoured that they were no longer human. Some would say they were man machines! And in 1974 a hit single and album, 'Autobahn', was unleashed across an unsuspecting world. It was filed under 'novelty'  and 'one hit wonder' along with other strange sounds, usually heard on TV, such as the theme music from 'Doctor Who'. Hippies would get stoned to 'Autobahn' and many knew that this was good. And LO! A few years later a rock God herald for Kraftwerk spoke unto the masses, named David Bowie, who spread the word to the masses and played the almost forgotten Kraftwerk music unto the masses at his gatherings. The angel Bowie later exiled himself to Berlin in 1977 to cure himself of the altered states caused by potions and powders which increased his holy visions. He made a trilogy of electronic albums there with another angel of electronica, Brian Eno. These sacraments were titled 'Low', 'Heroes' and 'Lodger'

And so in the time of our lord 1976 fell dark times and dull music. Progressive rock dinosaurs and banal pop roamed the earth devouring all in sight. Who would save us? The children of Bowie, Iggy Pop and The Velvet Underground, amongst other rebel warriors, created a weapon. And that weapon was called Punk Rock. And punk rock married the acolytes of Kraftwerk and begat many children who were named The Normal, The Human League, Tubeway Army, Depeche Mode, Suicide, Visage, Soft Cell, Eurythmics. The list is long and the the children were strong. Behold! Electro-pop was born! And the people saw that this was good and donned clothes of bright colours and painted their faces much like the angels Bowie and Kraftwerk had done before them. They appeared at night in churches with names like the 'The Blitz' and 'Hell'!

Amongst the first to emerge in the post-punk year of our lord 1979, was a being named Gary Numan, who created himself in the image of Bowie. Many hailed this being as the new messiah while the Bowie acolytes did mock this so called messiah. With his Tubeway Army, Numan did top the charts with the brave hymn 'Are Friends Electric'. At a time when the punk rock guitar was mightier than the sword it was strong and it changed the nation. The Bowie acolytes did proclaim the Tubeway Army to have stolen from the holy sacraments of Kraftwerk titled 'Trans-Europe Express' and 'The Man-Machine' along with their lord Bowie's 'Low' album. But this did not matter for the music was good and the
children did drink from the music and the children made it SO that Kraftwerk would begat a number one hit for 'The Model' in the year of 1981. Three long years after its creation!

But even before this in 1977 in a place called Italy lived the great man Giorgio Moroder. He was already an anointed wizard in the world of disco and his Goddess-whore Donna Summer did sing and moan and create the sounds of ecstasy for ritual dancing. The alchemist Lord Moroder did take the robotic sounds of Kraftwerk and fused them with the power of disco. 'I Feel Love' was born which would begat the legions of Electrodisco, Eurodisco, Italodisco, Hi-NRG and even House Music.

But the story does not end here (will it ever end?). In a far off city named New York did come another warrior named Afrika Bambaataa. With his horde of Zulu warriors The Soul Sonic Force, and a white wizard named Arthur Baker, didst they create 'Planet Rock' in 1982. A record that dared to merge Kraftwerk's 'Trans-Europe Express' with rap. And LO! Electro was born for that was the name given to this new form of music. And so like a wild animal whose survival is its primal function, the music would change and adapt with the years. Perhaps there is a wizard living in the land where you dwell? Buried deep within a dark cave or bunker creating sounds of electronica that will write the next chapter. And hence change the world.
