| TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE Technology has always been associated with progress and the notion of moving forward- to the benifit of humanity. After all, without nano-technology, fiber optics, and super computers we wouldn't enjoy many of the cures, communications, and comforts that we enjoy today. Or more likely, it is this type of mindset or outlook (beyond the obvious and problematic acceptance of civilization) which ignores the essential basis of technology and its co-conspirator- science. Technology and science continue to progress due to its very existance. Essentially, technology and science are continued to cure the very problems that in fact- technology and science- created. So, in effect, those good intentioned scientists and techno-crats that dream of a liesurly society free from disease will exist only in the utopia of their imaginations. Science was born in the notion that all life must be studied, labled, etc. It is the reduction of life to the rational and logical as if all life operated asd functioned as a lifeless machine. Life is by nature, the very opposite. It is full of suprises, uncatagoraizable, full of energy and emotion. It is chaotic and any attempts to bring it under control will ineventibly fail. Technology too exists to dominate nature. It not only controls nature but to replace it as well. It is its own inherent ideology aiding science and progress. Its aim is to attain perfection, thus constantly improving itself infinatelessly, intensifying extremely division of labor (specialization)- to the extent of a total technocracy empire- either controlled and carried out by an elite few- or more likely, the machines themselves. And it is this notion many people including anarcho-leftists fail to realize. Civilization will never end itself entirely, we must end it in our own lives, on our own terms, and encourage rebellion to this maga-machine to all we meet. We are rapidly facing two options, a wild free life full of intense emotion- spontanious and wild in harmony with nature; or an ever-empty cold alienated technocracy destroying our own humanity. |
