my best friend The rain hasn't stopped for days on end, Heaven's crying for my best friend. He hadn't drank, he hadn't drove, But from him, his life was stole. I had seen him just the night before, We talked for hours on the livingroom floor. We talked about the future he planned, Traveling to some distant lands. A beautiful girl to make his wife, to make a family and start his life. To watch his kids grow up with love, he knew his children were from above. But his dreams he'll never know, Just because of that drinking Joe. Why that night did he leave me here, Alone, wondering, filled with fear. I wasn't there to tell him it would be alright, There he was, alone, on that fateful night. And as I look upon his lifeless face, I see a smile that showed me grace. I heard a voice quiet and still, It told me his final will. "I know," he said, "you miss me so, But I am with you through high and low." "My life was taken to save another, I saved somebody's sister or brother." "I have no regreats, and I want you to know, It's because of you that I can let go." "The talks we had about that one girl, Helped me see your beauty unfurl." "Always remember that you are who you are, And you should never stop wishing on your star." "I have to go, but don't be afraid, because I see your dreams being made." "I bid you farewell and a final adieu, Don't forget that I love you." And with that, the voice stopped, quiet again, But I knew that that was my best friend. I know he's alright in Heaven above, And he's looking in and smiling with love. Yet I took one last look, and blew a kiss, To the greatest friend that I will miss. As I turned to leave after saying goodbye, I felt a teardrop fall from my eye. I wiped it away and told myself, "It'll be okay, Don't forget, you're going to see him again someday." I got in my car and drove back home, Knowing that I was never alone. |
