Dr. Dre
My
Brother Alephs,
As the acting Chapter Aleph Godol of our fine
chapter, I would first and foremost like to express my
excitement to be taking on such a distinguished role in our
chapter, although I wish it could have come in a less
humiliating way. As you know, I am only acting Godol because
of Jonah’s unjustly, if you will, suspension. But before I
comment on that issue I would like address the issue
concerning Sharon and Cecil. What almost everyone is faced
with, is a complete misunderstanding on the matter of them
being on “power trips” and being irrational in their
decision making. At the end of Fallboy myself, Sharon and a
few Abe C’ers were talking and I came to the realization
that Sharon really is looking out for us and that we are
number 1. We take her for granted because she is trying to
do her job and some of her decisions, which are necessary,
do not appeal to us. For instance we all know about the
suspensions, and I for one do not agree with her, but to my
amazement she knows about the person who bought the beer at
our potluck and she said she would not suspend him. Then
their really isn’t much else she has done wrong, she let
Jacob coordinate LTI after initially banning him that
privilege, and if weren’t for her, we would not have had
ice time at Fallboy. You heard several people comment on it
at Good and Welfare this weekend, and those people who
expressed their views which agree with those of Sharon’s
are respected, important and BBYO-smart people, like Adam
and Fixler, who are Regional Godol and S’gan.
On a lighter note, I would like to explain the
upcoming programs for December. Due to Winter break, the
month will be cut short and there will only be 5 programs in
a span of 2 weeks. First there is the AZA does Channukah
program, which some Alephs may not be aware of. We have
ourselves, as well as Abe C. and we make a tape of Channukah
songs, and sell them, donating profits to a charitable
cause. We haven’t had this program since my AIT year, but
I strongly suggest everyone shows up, so we can hear your
voices and for those members of Heat (Sasha, Miklos and
Jeremy) you better show up so we can see if you’re all
that. However, our program will in no way contain
Teeny-Bopper related music, with all due respect, I don’t
think the Dreidel song will sound good to the tune of
Backstreet’s Back. Also, in preparation for LTI, (The
hotel convention where you actually can score) we will be
having filming and newspaper programs directed by Jared and
Brian respectably. Jared, your Fallboy filming was amazing,
however I am disappointed that the region was unable to see
my relatively hairy ass smoking an 11-year-old cigar.
Furthermore, I hope to have a floor hockey rematch against
Abe C, or even just our usual chapter hockey games, which
have been absent for a while. Don’t worry about it though,
Kyle is now in charge of hockey and I know he will be more
able to get some shize done. Also regarding Kyle, he is
doing webpage, and if he doesn’t call you to do it, (Leeam,
Eric and Miklos) then call him, I had to transfer my duties
to him, because it became a burden and I apologize for not
getting it done. Finally we will most likely be having a
Potluck Shabbat, Channukah style, it may seem a bit early
after what happened at the last potluck, but after
discussing it with Gary, and from the other chapters, Rob,
Colin, Sam and Gillian, we decided it would be a good chance
to show we are responsible enough to not take the term,
POT-luck so literally, and that we can do it right this
time, so we can have more in the future.
As far as jerseys are concerned, I’m glad to see
all you guys wearing your jerseys with such enthusiasm, I
believe this ends the 3 year curse of ugly jerseys, as you
may have seen from other Alephs. But, you must get in your
money soon, I really don’t want to get on your backs 24/7,
and neither does Jonah. If you’re not sure about anything,
the charge is $50 and checks are to be made out to the
B’nai Brith Youth Fund. I will be asking for them
frequently and I don’t want to have to punish anyone by
not giving them future stylin clothing apparel because they
didn’t pay for their jerseys. 2 Alephs are already not
getting their new jerseys because they didn’t pay for
their old jerseys and T-shirt. Speaking of which, we have
some really awesome ideas for future chapter clothing and if
anyone has any ideas please give me a call and I would be
more than happy to present your idea for discussion. Another
thing, if we don’t get in all our money, Percy can decide
not to do our jerseys anymore, and you will have to pay more
in the future, so hopefully you can use that as an added
incentive in filling our $1400 order.
Now, the big one, Fallboy, of course I’ve got a lot
to say about this. There were many ups and downs about the
conventions, and the good things were really good, but the
bad things were very bad. I’m very impressed at the
attitude and conduct, as you have learned about, shown by us
at programming. Not once, no matter how wrong a program went
did a Mandel B’er walk out and that’s something we can
all pat ourselves on the back for… or take 5 minutes in
the bathroom. With that, it really seemed to me like
everyone had an awesome time, although Fallboy usually runs
a bit smoother, it is still apparent to me that all you guys
who showed learned what a fraternal weekend is all about. As
brother Alephs we all learned the value of fraternity and
practiced that as one of our seven cardinal
principles,furthermore, fulfilling the folds concerning
Athletics, Social, Judaism and Educational. As far as
Basketball is concerned, we played incredible, kudos to
Jonah, Noam, and our Saskatchewan buddies. I was really
proud the way most of us sacrificed their playing time so
the better players could try win the second game, even the
Beave who made the game winning assist against Abe C. From
what I heard the joint program didn’t go too well, but
that’s what you get when you let a BBG do a man’s job. I
on the other hand, I really enjoyed it. My favourite part
about the joint program was when I was sitting in Earls
sinking my teeth in an Earl’s Bigger Better Burger, mmm,
burger ahhhhhhhh *droo.
Like
I said, there were some really bad downs, I was bitterly
frustrated in the lack of effort in our hockey game against
the Bulls. Its time we stopped relying on Roni to win games
for us and play like a real team. To be honest I couldn’t
stand the way some people just stood around the ice, waiting
for the puck to come to them, taking forever to come on or
off and the constant too many men on the ice situations. As
you probably noted, I was not there for the game against
International; my reasoning is based on what I just
mentioned and guys like Adam and Noam who will be gone next
year and have never embraced the glory of Stanley’s cup
won’t get a chance. Obviously hockey is about playing as a
team, but of part of team playing is winning and that
won’t happen until people know their role and start giving
it their all. Well instead of ranting and raving about our
poor hockey, I just want to once again commend everyone
again on their commitment to the convention and I’m sure
you will be rewarded in your bed with a BBG at LTI; not
necessarily this year, but soon no doubt. Likewise, I hope
you guys all set up future scoring opportunities.
I
will try not to make this much longer, but I want to take
this time to reflect on my personal standing and hopefully
you guys will understand where I’m coming from so that we
can be clear on issues. For starters, if you didn’t read
the quote by Dr. Dre at the beginning, read it now, okay,
hmm, okay, you should be done right… now. Basically, I’m
not perfect, no one is, but I will openly admit to this.
Firstly, during Good and Welfare at Fallboy, I made a
comment, you know what, which should have been left to
discuss as a chapter, and I wanted to clarify that, and note
that I have talked with the person who is of concern and
apologized, so we are at peace. Like the little quote says,
“Still taking my time to perfect the beat but I still got
love for the streets.” You know you guys are number 1 to
me and the only reason I stand strong as an Aardvark is
because of you guys. Once again, thanks to everyone who has
helped me so far in fulfilling my duties as Godol. A special
thanks to MOFO, JOFO, Gary or whatever you want to be
called. Gary has done a lot for me already and the new month
hasn’t even started yet, also to Jonah, who even though he
is suspended acts as a guiding light for me so I choose the
right path, and trailblaze the right trail for you guys.
Finally,
I am so impressed at the way November went. The Survivor
series went off fantastically, we had a huge turnout and the
Swersky’s were really awesome for lending their house to
us. Then there was the potluck, which never really happened,
or at least I choose to think of it that way. Don’t get
too worked up over the incident, I mean shit happens and
we’ve learned our lesson, even though our chapter was more
of a reasoning voice, rather than a sh- stirrer. It may suck
right now, but by the time winter break is over and Jonah
& Adam’s suspensions are lifted no one will even think
about it even more and I’m sure it will be disregarded as
such a big thing. If the Channukah style potluck works out,
then it will open a door of opportunity for us and no longer
should we have to worry about such BS again. There is a
certain event that I cannot talk about, but you know what it
is and you know how proud I am of each one you because of
the event in question. Hopefully in January, we will have a
proper business meeting and Gary and I can present to you an
updated version of the constitution. That has been
temporarily disregarded until time permits it, but guarantee
it will be done soon.
As
a final (I promise) note, I want everyone to realize that I
have done my time as an Aleph and completely understand what
it means to be a member such a wonderful chapter. I know
some people have expressed concern over my taking over the
chapter, but it is vital to everyone’s knowledge, that I
am just as ready to do best for you guys as Jonah, Adam and
everyone other Godol that has served Mandel Bloomfield.
After working a hell of a lot wit Jonah this year and a fair
share with Adam last year, I can easily say I am qualified
and capable of doing my best for you guys, and I promise you
will get the best of this shortened, but exciting month. So
with out any further ranting, I will sign off and leave you
with these final words to sum up my previous statement: “I
am not afraid to face tomorrow, because I have seen
yestarday, and I love today.” – Anonymous.
