“And G-d said, ‘Let
there be light,’
and there was light; And
G-d saw the light,
that it was good, and G-d
divided
the light from the
darkness; And G-d called
the light Day, and the
darkness He called
night. And the evening and
the morning
were the first day.”
-Genesis
1:3 to 1:5
My brother Alephs,
Here we are, at the opening of a brand new fraternal
year. A time of new beginnings, a time where the light becomes
separated from the darkness, and a distinct division between
two periods of time is realized. We emerge from the past, and
look towards a promising future.
We have all the materials required for formulating one
of the best years in the history of this fine chapter. The
nice (now tender bummed) AIT’s, that can’t wait to get
another taste of our grand Order; a dedicated group of second
years who, I am sure, are relieved not to have the tender bums
this time around; the third years who are now more than wise
in the ways of the Aleph Zadik Aleph; and the fourth years who
are here for one last amazing spin on the merry-go-round we
call the AZA.
I have already seen the dedication of our new Chapter
Executive Board, and if this is any indication of what is in
store for the Aardvarks of Mandel Bloomfield AZA #121 in our
74th fraternal programming year, then it is
guaranteed to be a success!
The month of September was planned as an easy month, as
it is the first month back in the regular routine, and the
High Holy Days pose somewhat of an obstacle. But you will
definitely have had your fill come the end of the month. We
kick off this short (but oh so sweet) month, jam packed with
goodies out the tuchus, with the now constitutionally required
J-E-L-L-O (why does that remind me of a black man with small
children?) Wrestling. **IMPORTANT**: only bring clothes –
meaning bathing suit, sandals, and towel – that are okay to
get stained. Oh yeah, and it might be a good idea to bring
some soap, you’ll get kind of sticky…
This is then followed by Rosh Ha Shanah, which
literally translates to “Head of the Year.” It is an
annual holiday which takes place on the first two days of the
first month of the Hebrew calendar, Tishrei. There are many
symbols that accompany this holiday and are recognizedddddddd…
sorry, fell asleep there. Where were we? Oh yes! Our big
Ping-Pong Ching Chong tournament at… you guessed it!
G-Chang’s house!
“But ping pong,” you say. “Isn’t that a sport
for people with black hair and slanted eyes?” And I will
retort, “No you silly little Jewish man! It’s our first
Social program of the year!” It is not just ping-pong, but a
compilation of many other gaming systems, movies, snacks, and
Alephs (the latter not to eat or play with).
As we near the end of this mushiguneh month, our
Chapter Moreh, Drew “Call my mom” Hanson, hits us with an
incredibly originally strategically laid out AIT Training
Session. I tell you, after this session, you will never go
back to eating fat free foods again! Come meet Sam Beber,
Nathan Mnookin, Charles Shane (and maybe Craig), along with
the good ol’ boys from your favourite chapter, and mine…
Mandel Bloomfield, and discover: the truth behind the GRAND
Aleph Godol, Bogus Boris Bogen’s Five Folds and Beyond,
Starlight, moondust, and many other aphrodisiacs.
And what could be a better way to end this incredible
month, than with the Member In Training/Aleph In Training
Convention held in the heart of Rio Terrace coordinated by the
Regional Moreh and MIT Mom, Gary “Dee Oh Double Gee”
Galante and Jenna “I can’t think of a nickname” Hanson.
I hope you will all agree that this year can and will
be a great one. One that is filled with fraternity, brotherly
love, benevolence, and harmony. And that Mandel Bloomfield
#121 of the Aleph Zadik Aleph will become an entity like no
other, as from darkness to light, for “G-d saw the light,
that it was good.”
Fraternally submitted with undying love for
AIT’s, tender bums, AIT’s with
tender bums,
battling it out in multicoloured, fruity smelling,
gooey feeling, edible matter, Math class, secretly
Jewish math teachers, Jewish friends in secretly
Jewish math classes, Ms. McPherson (Jewish? I don’t know),
and the Alephs of Mandel Bloomfield reaching the light
and realizing the true purpose of the Aleph Zadik Aleph.
