Rudolph Essig (b: 1666, aged 70, immigrates)
The History of The Swamp Lutheran Church (courtesy: REV. J.J.Kline) listed the name of "Essig the aged, October 19, 1746, aged 73 years"

Georg Abraham Essig (b: 1694)

Hans Michael (b: 1704)
Hans Michael died 1759 at the age of 53, and was buried by Pastor Schaum at Trappe (Providence). His grave, wife Justina Catherina Essig, and brother Georg Abraham are all unmarked. The known children are: Johan Georg (1732- 1816), Michael Essig (1734-1809), Ann Catharina (1738- ?), Rudolph II (1741-1815), Margreth (1744-?), Anna Maria (1747-?), Eva Catherina (1749-?). Further records of the daughters were lost due to marriages. My branch of the family descends from Hans Michaels' son Rudolph II (1741- 1815). Rudolph II married Mary Nyce and are next found in what is now Wallace (county,city?), Pennsylvania on a farm owned by a Mr. Steel. Johan (John) and Michael moved to western Pennsylvania. Michael remained a bachelor and died April 16, 1809 aged 74 years 11 months and 16 days. His name is spelled "Essik" on his tombstone. Rudolph II and Mary were the parents of 12 children. Rudolph II and Mary are buried in the old Brandywine Manor Cemetery. He died August 6, 1815 at 73 years of age. His tombstone has the following verse on it:
"Kind Angel watch this sleeping dust, till Jesus comes to raise the Just. Then may he awake in sweet
surprise and in his Saviours (sic Savior's) image rise."
Mary died September 21, 1823 aged 75 years. Her tombstone has the following verse on it:
"Great God I own Thy sentence just, and nature must decay, I yield my body to dust, and dwell with
fallow clay."
Rudolph II and Mary (Nyce) Essig had 12 children, ( Mary, Michael III, Elizabeth, Rudolph III, John, Catharine, Sarah, Martha, Lydia, George, Jacob and Samuel).
Michael III married Mary Todd in Chester County Pennsylvania. They had a son Rudolph that later married Leah Humble (Hoombl). Among their children was Michael Luther Essick. Later Michaels's mother , Leah (b: 1806-1892) came to live with them. Michael, Mary, and his mother are all buried in the Linn Grove Cemetery, south of Norwalk, Iowa.
