Making a Prism

This tutorial is here thanks to the inspiration of one of my WOSIB Sisters - Novella.  Thank you Novella!  I was running short on inspiration for things to write tutorials on and Novella came up with this idea.

I'm still trying to perfect this tutorial, but if you follow this tutorial, your prism will look like this:

You will need:

A copy of PaintShop Pro - you can download a 30 day trial version from here

A copy of Winzip - you can download it from here

This zip file (the tube should be compatible with PSP versions 5, 6 and 7).  Unzip it to somewhere on your hard drive

Fire up PSP and wait for it to load up

New a new image at the following settings:

Width: 300 pixels
Height: 300 pixels
Resolution: 72.000 pixels per inch
Transparent background
16.7 million colours (24 bit)

Go over and select your preset shapes tool .

In the Tool Options palette, choose the Octagon shape and make sure that "antialias" and "create as vector" are checked

Make both your foreground and background colour white

Draw an octagon in about the middle of the Image

Deselect (selections, select none)

Now you need to convert the layer into a Raster layer, so go to "layers" and then down to "convert to raster layer"

Now that it's a raster layer, we need to select it again, so go to "selections" and then "select all"

Now you need to use your selection tool and click somewhere in the octagon

Save your work
