Raster and Vector Layers

You may have seen tutorials or heard people talking about "Raster Layers" or "Vector Layers" and not known what the flip they were talking about... after going through this tutorial, hopefully it should be a little clearer :o)

You will need:

A copy of PaintShop Pro - you can download a 30 day trial version from here

A copy of Winzip - you can download it from here

This zip file (the tube should be compatible with PSP versions 5, 6 and 7).  Unzip it to somewhere on your hard drive

First you need to open up PSP and wait for it to whir into action.

When it's loaded up, you need to create a new image (file, new)

use these settings:

Now we need to open up the tube you saved at the start of this tutorial, so we need to go to the file menu, then open

Find where you saved your tube, single left click on it so that it's highlighted and the file name appears in the "file name" box.  Click "OK"

Now you need to get that tube over to the blank image you've just created, so you need to take a copy of the tube (Edit, Copy)

Go back to your image (Window, click on the name of your image)

Paste your Jesters Hat onto your image as a new layer (Edit, Paste, As New Layer)

Your Jesters hat will now be centered in your image.

Now you need to go to one of your floating toolbars - you need the "layers palette" one.

Hover your cursor over the titlebar on this palette and it will expand out and down... it should look something like this:
