Stuff
You Need To Know
Now
onto a few hints and tips and tricks that you'll
hopefully find useful as you continue
on your journey through learning PSP!
I'll keep on adding to this page as I
discover more and more tricks and
little gems of info about PSP so keep
on checking back!! :o)
-
Whenever
you resize an image, always
remember to sharpen it (Effects,
Sharpen, Sharpen) - it gives you
back some of the clarity that
resizing takes away
-
As
soon as you open a new image,
always save it straight away
(File, Save As, type in the file
name, choose .psp format and hit
OK). This saves a *lot* of
time and frustration if something
happens and PSP closes - while
it's very frustrating, it's a lot
*less* frustrating to loose 2
minutes work and having to do the
last 3 steps again than 2 hours
work and having to redo the whole
image.
-
If
you are getting duplicates of your
tubes or pre-set shapes showing
up, you probably need to clear out
your PSP cache. To do this,
open up Windows Explorer then
navigate to where you've installed
PSP - this is usually "c:/Programme
Files/Jasc Software inc./Paint
Shop Pro 7". In that
folder there's another folder
called "Cache"... go
into that folder and select all
the files (edit, select all) then
delete them. DO NOT DELETE
THE FOLDER - just the
contents. Next time you open
up PSP it will recreate the
contents of that folder and your
duplicates should have
disappeared! :o)
-
If
you followed my overview of PSP
tutorial then you'll know that I
*love* the Browse part of the
programme. Another tool that
I'd underestimated until recently
is the dropper tool. It's
such a time and frustration saver
if you are trying to find just the
right colour but you can't work
out how to get it just the right
shade. Just open up an image
that's got the colour you want in
it, select the dropper tool and
use that to select the colour.
Left click on the colour to set
the foreground colour and right
click on the colour to set the
background colour (if you've
changed your mouse preferences in
Windows the same changes will be
in effect in PSP)
