A strange name, but a very useful concept in Chinese grammar. Resultative endings are single syllables (single characters) tacked onto the end of verbs to express something about the result of the action. Technically, they're considered adverbial particles, because they modify the preceding verb.
The following tables list the most common resultative endings, as well as many of their frequently used verb + RE combinations. Besides being a good study guide for RE's, these tables also reinforce the idea that Chinese characters are not words in and of their own, but that they are morphemes that merely suggest a meaning or concept, and that they must be combined with other morphemes to form words with concrete meanings.
