SOMEONE SOMEWHERE SOON WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU by Enola PART 11 It has been raining almost without any interruption for three days. There’s something you don’t like at all about British weather. It’s not rain. It’s the fact you don’t manage to notice any difference in it. When you got to London it was late summer, but a totally different summer from that you were used to. In Italy people still went to the beach while in London was raining. Then autumn came and weather got colder and colder with the sky cloudy for weeks. And it rained. It rained a lot during all winter and still rains now, at the beginning of April. About one month has passed since your return to ‘The House’. Nothing has really changed there and it’s as if time had gone back before Valerie’s arrival. No one talks about her anymore as if she hadn’t ever been there. Kids liked her at the beginning just because you liked her, but as soon as you left, they started hating her since they considered her as the responsible. You know Olivia still feels sorry, but she said she wanted to forget about all the mess made by Valerie as soon as possible. Also you would like to forget everything quickly, but you are aware that you need time for that. Even Shane acts normally, as usual. He got angry when you told him about the evening you last “spoke” to James, but he said he couldn’t either condemn or justify him. He knew James too well and for that reason he needed to talk to him to know what he had to say. You don’t know what James told Shane. You just know they spoke a lot about the whole thing, but you told Shane you didn’t feel like hearing what James told him. Shane understood and promised not to mention anything about that anymore. You haven’t gone out with Shane anymore after that evening, but suddenly, a Saturday night you decide to. Shane is both surprised and pleased about that and he’s even more surprised when after having asked you where you’d like to go, you reply you want to go to Ian’s. When you get there you realise at once there are a lot of people, a lot more than usual, so you and Shane sit at the bar. As soon as Ian sees you, you can read an upset expression in his face. You can’t blame him as last time you rushed off without saying anything and you have never given him any explanation. As he comes close to you, you tell him you are terribly sorry about that and that he has every reason to be angry…But he smiles at you saying he’s not angry at all because Shane told him you have had some kind of troubles lately!! In the meantime, Shane has joined some friends of yours, but you prefer staying at the bar to chat to Ian especially because they also are James’ friends and you don’t feel talking to them as the topic “James” would surely come up. While you and Ian are in the middle of an interesting conversation about football results of the day, a boy asks you if the stool next to you is free, so after having replied it is, he sits down and orders a pint. He keeps silent for some minutes, then he suddenly intervenes while you and Ian are commenting a penalty Chelsea scored a couple of minutes before the end of the match. According to you, that penalty was a really nice gift from the referee who needed an urgent need of a pair of glasses. Ian, as a keen Chelsea supporter, doesn’t agree at all, obviously!! The boy says you are completely right as Leeds defender didn’t make any foul on Chelsea forward. You thank him for his support and looking at him, you realise you have seen him there lots of times before. Your conversation goes on and you introduce yourselves. He’s called Adam and you find him nice at once. He buys you a drink and quite strangely, he persuades you into drinking just a little vodka with orange juice. Even more strangely you realise you like it and decide to have another one with a bit more vodka and a third drink later. Slowly, you start feeling a bit dulled, even though you feel totally at ease with Adam. You keep talking and laughing till Shane interrupts you saying he has to tell you something, so you get up and together go away from Adam. “Are you ok?” he asks concerned, “Yep!” you laugh, “What’s this smell? Have you been drinking vodka?” he asks extremely worried looking straight in the eye, “Yep! Don’t worry, I’m fine!” you smile. Before he can say anything else, you walk quickly toward the bar to continue your pleasant chat with Adam. He buys you another drink, but Ian says you’d better stop drinking since you have already drunk enough. You shake you head annoyed, then you turn and see Shane looking at you sternly. At this point Adam suggests going to drink something somewhere else and you agree. You put your coat on and you leave quickly. After some steps you hear Shane calling your name behind you, so annoyed, you stop and tell Adam to wait a minute while you go back to talk to Shane. “Where are you going now?” he asks, “It’s none of your business! I’m not a child Shane. I don’t need any babysitter” you reply in an annoyed tone, “What the hell is happening to you? I can hardly recognise you. You’ve known that guy only for one hour and you leave together?” “What’s wrong with it? He’s nice and I enjoyed talking with him, so stop worrying. I’ll be back home in a couple of hours.” You walk away, but after a few steps Shane grasps your arm, “Just promise not to drink.” You go away from him quickly without saying a word. You are sick of him, sick of playing the good girl, sick of everything around you. “Who’s that?” asks Adam when you rejoin him, “Just a pain in the arse! Forget it.” He wraps his arm round your neck and the 2 of you make your way to a place you totally ignore. In almost ten minutes you get to a club. It’s crowded, noisy and hyper-lit. Adam takes your hand and leads you through the crowd. You reach the bar and he asks for an orange juice with vodka for you and a neat vodka for him. He gulps his drink down while you aren’t sure if you want to drink yours. After a while you take you glass and sip slowly. He suggests dancing. You lean your glass on the bar, so he grasps your hand once again and you reach the dance floor. He grasps your waist pulling you towards him, then he moves his hands up and down your back. Moments later you feel his breath on your neck and a while later his lips are on your neck just under your ear kissing your skin gently. Slowly his lips move over your jaw, your cheek and finally, he kisses you sending his tongue into your month. You break the kiss some seconds later as the strong taste of vodka in his mouth makes you feel sick. You tell him you’d like to sit down because you’re tired and your head is sore because of that deafening music. He asks you if you want to go away and you reply you prefer to stay, you just want to sit down. He holds your hand and you go back the bar where Adam talks to the barman for a while, then he leads you to a blue velvet curtain. He opens it and tells you to enter. You are in a quiet small dim room now. There’s a couch on the other side of the room, so you both sit down. A while later a waitress comes in carrying two glasses on a tray she leans on a small table in front of the couch. Another orange juice with vodka and another neat vodka you suppose. He bends and searches for your mouth again. He stops kissing as you aren’t kissing him back. “What’s up sugar? Why are you so sad?” he whispers, “I’m not” you reply, “What a liar!” he smiles, “I bet it’s ‘cos of a man. Don’t think of him” he says brushing your cheek with his lips, “I think I have something which will make you forget about him and relax baby!” He puts his hand in his trousers pocket and then he shows you a very small transparent bag with some white powder in it. “What’s it?” you ask worried, “Something magic!” he breathes, “something which will make you feel better” he adds pouring a few powder into your glass. Afterwards he hands you it. You hesitate for a moment before leaning it again on the table. “I don’t need that!” you say firmly, “Ok! Drink some of my vodka then!” he says offering you his glass. You take a couple of sips before giving him back it. He finishes his drink and kisses you again probing your mouth with his tongue. Alcohol is taking effect more and more. You feel weak and sleepy. “Why don’t we go to my place? We’ll be more comfortable there” he breathes. You shake your head slowly, so he goes on, “Well, we can do it here after all!” His lips back over your again while his right hand slips under your top, then he undoes your trousers. You break the kiss and tell him to stop, but he goes on. Suddenly, your hear a voice screaming, “Get your hands off her!” Adam stands up as the other man grasps his arm. You’re confused, but you are sure it’s Shane, so you’re relieved. He warns Adam to leave immediately, so he goes away. Just when he comes closer to you, you realise it’s not Shane, but James! You get up at once and yell, “Hey? What the fuck are you doin’? “What are YOU doing? I’ve just prevented you from making the biggest mistake of your life!” he replies quietly, “Life? What life? I don’t have a life James! Remember? YOU did say that!” you snarl. “What’s your problem James? You wanna be the first, don’t you? Oh yeah…I bet that fucking a virgin must be pretty exciting…isn’t it? C’mon…why don’t you push me against that wall again? I won’t stop you this time! You do want that. That’s the only thing YOU have ever wanted from me…” “No. That’s not true!” he says softly shaking his head, “Shut your mouth!” You scream. Suddenly your eyes fill with tears, but you don’t want to cry in front of him. You go on trying to speak quietly. “I just wanted ONE thing from you…your friendship. Did I ask you too much?…Sorry if I did. Sorry if I desperately needed a friend…I thought friendship was one of the things you cared most…yeah…you just didn’t give a shit about MY friendship…you know…you have been very clever…for a while I thought you were sincere when you told me I didn’t have to worry about what the others thought about me…when you told me not to ever change…bullshit! They were just a bunch of bullshit!! You acted the caring and understanding friend wonderfully. I have to admit that…But it was my fault. I shouldn’t have ever trusted you…I told you everything about myself…I opened my heart to you…and what did you give me instead?” “I’ve never acted to you…” he says in a soft voice, “Stop…stop! I don’t want to hear a word! Please, stay away from me…don’t oblige me to leave” you finally say almost in tears. He goes away at once. You collapse over the couch and lean your elbows on your lap, so you cup your face in your hands and close your eyes. Shane arrives some minutes later. He sits next to you and holds you. You apologise and beg him to take you home. PART 12 >>> <<< Enola's stories |
