SOMEONE SOMEWHERE SOON WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU by Enola PART 3 Some weeks later, on Sunday morning, you and Shane have invited your friends to have lunch at ‘The House’. You, Mrs Lewis, Mary and Cindy, 2 of Shane’s friends, who did some voluntary there before your arrival, spend the whole morning cooking the meal for about 25 people! Shane and Mr Lewis are outside with the other guys and the children. Having eaten and done the washing up Shane says he’s bored and suggests playing football or rugby outside. Everyone agrees with him, but there’s who wants to play football like you and the other 2 girls and Mr Lewis and who prefers playing rugby like Shane and his friends. Only James is still undecided, 4 people has said football and 4 rugby, so everyone looks at him impatiently waiting for his decision while he rubs his face thoughtfully. After a couple of minutes among snorts and yawns, he finally gives his answer, he just says, “Rugby.” You are really upset, “Rugby? No way!” you grumble scowling at him going close to him, “Damn James, why rugby?” you protest, “Y’know, I like physical contact!” he smirks winking at you. You snort with annoyance because you don’t feel like playing rugby at all. You love rugby, you enjoy watching it on TV and you love going to see the matches as well, but you don’t like playing it because you are short while the others are all bigger than you, so you are a bit scared because you think you’ll surely hurt yourself. All the boys promise they’ll pay attention with you and Shane suggests you have to get rid of the ball at once when you get it. The game starts while Mrs Lewis and the kids sit on the ground to watch you playing. You run backward and forward hoping none of your team mates passes the ball to you, but suddenly Shane screams your name and you see the ball coming towards you. You grasp it and throw it immediately to another of your mates. As soon as you throw the ball someone flings you to the ground falling over you. That someone is James!! “Sorry babe, I didn’t mean to be so…rough…I didn’t hurt you, did I?” says him with a silly grin in his face. “Nope. You didn’t” reply you a bit annoyed, “But I’ll hurt you in a while if you don’t get up immediately!” you add threateningly. He giggles for a while so you push him away, get up and smiling you say, “James, stay away from me!” He gets up and going close to you he whispers, “I’ll do my best, but who knows…” so he winks at you again and goes away from you. Some minutes later while you are running quite far from the action, James grasps your waist from behind and you both fall to the ground. “Oops! Sorry, I thought you were Shane!” he says, “Really funny! As if we were identical twin!!” you mutter. A while later Shane shouts, “Hey! What the hell are you doing? Give up flirting, we are playing a match!” You and James look at each for a while smiling, then you get up, “Are you angry with me? I hope you aren’t because I was just kidding” says James in a very nice way, “I know, don’t worry!” you reply aloud running towards the other guys. Some hours later you are in the playroom with the children. Strangely enough, they are all quiet while you are reading them another chapter of Don Quixote. You are very pleased about that because you’ve finally found a reading that they appreciate. You’ve obtained what you wanted: stimulate their curiosities. Glancing at your watch you notice that it’s time to go to bed for them, so you finish quickly the chapter. “Well, that’s all for today children, we go on with it tomorrow.” All the kids get up and reach their rooms, so you follow them to wish them a goodnight. Afterwards you enter the lounge where you find Shane on the sofa watching telly. You sit down close to him, but the both of you keep silent. After a while you notice that he’s staring at you and as you turn and look at him he scowls at you and crossing his arms he says astonished, “I can’t believe that! How the hell did you manage to win their confidence in such a brief time?” “I don’t know, that’s a surprise for me too,” “Don Quixote!! How did it come to your mind?” he laughs, “Why not? It’s a funny novel full of equivocal situations. The kids love it. You should read it as well, I’m sure you’d change your mind!” you reply a bit annoyed, “Are you ok?” asks him concerned, “Yeah. Sorry, I’m just tired. I’d better to go to sleep.” You get up but he immediately grasps your wrist, “Not that fast! Sit down and speak!” You obey and sit again. “What’s the problem?” he asks you, “Not what, but who” “Ok! Who is the problem?” You don’t reply immediately as you aren’t sure if you really want to tell him that. But a while later, while you’re still thinking about that, he says, “Hang on. Let me guess…James?” “Yes. The problem is that…” you pause a few seconds, “I don’t like the way he looks at me” At this point, Shane bursts out laughing and keep cackling for a bit, “You mean you don’t like his look full of lust? I did notice that! Ehm, he didn’t tell me anything, but I think he fancies you!” “Please, tell me you’re kidding!” you whine cupping your face in your hands, “I know him quite well, so I’m almost sure about that! Do you want me to talk to him?” “You’d do that?” you ask “Of course!” “Thanks! Just tell him not to waste his time with me as he has no chances to sh…ehm, you know what!” you say leaving the lounge.
