Winnipeg Radio Control Club (WRCC) Winnipeg Radio Control Club (WRCC) did not have a fun fly at their new field this year. Cellar Dweller Hobbies held a "Customer Appreciation Day" Fun Fly on Aug 12, 2001. This event has been held for a number of years. This year's turnout had around 25 pilots flying. The new WRCC field is coming along, the grass is starting to fill in but taxing from the pits to the runway is a bit rough. Fortunately the wind was from the N to NW as the field has one runway - paved and it is N-S. Highlight of the day had to be Gerry Schudel of the Saints R/C Club with his 45% Pitts powered by a twin cylinder 3W-150 engine swinging a 32 or 34" Bolly prop and a super smoke system. (click on pics to enlarge) Dennis Ward has his new Edge 540, powered with a MVVS 140, Dennis also flies Horace's turbine Byron F15
Tex Gehman was out with a Sig Spacewalker (G23 powered), and a Goldberg SU26. The Spacewalker is for sale if some one is looking for a good sport plane. Tex flies Futaba PCM and and encountered some radio interference causing some PCM lockup during his SU26 flights.
Tom Gretsinger form Portage with his Wilga, Frank Deeley's Twin Otter, Wayne Lewis Flybaby and P6E Hawk, a nice Goldberg Tiger, Doug Sewel's Super Chipmunk, Mitch assembling the Stearman wanabe, Don Hatch bipe after r/c failure.
