‘before the gleaming current i am astounded’
before the gleaming current i am astounded.
before the eyes of the statue i am in awe.
at the ancient feet of the mountain i have knelt.
but above all you leave me short of breath.
you touch my soul with one worn palm
and leave me speechless. i am lost inside you,
you astound me. above all else you astound me.
in flashes i feel memories of riots &
confusion.
the force of fire & the shattering of glass.
the lone man screaming, hiding in the open.
i have seen terrors but when you look at me
i feel the past go quiet – you touch me
and i am fully here. your words enthrall me.
your smile awakens me. above all else you astound
me.
