The Metal Kings
Joey DeMaio - 4, 8 string bass, keyboards
Born on 6th March 1960 in Auburn, New York. Played bass in a schoolband. He worked for a while for Black Sabbath as a bass-pyro technician. Founded Manowar together with Ross The Boss. Joey likes classical music (like Wagner), the old Black Sabbath (with Ozzy) and Connan books. Joey is the loudest musician on Earth. He has written all the lyrics and all the music (only in several tracks with the help of Ross, Michael Shankle or Karl). He selected the painter Ken Kelly to make the cover illustrations for "Fighting The World" and the next Manowar albums.
Eric Adams - vocals
Born on 12th Juli 19?? in Auburn, New York. He started to sing when he was 9 and never took any lessons. Eric is a school days friend of Joey. First he played the guitar in a schoolband. For one show Joey "forgot" to take Eric's guitar and he had to sing. After that show Eric understood that he's best as a vocal. He is in Manowar from the very beginning. Eric is father of three sons.
Scott Columbus - drums, percussion
Born on 10th November 19?? in the USA. He is in Manowar from 1983. He left the band in 1991 because his son was very ill and Scott wanted to be by his side. He returned in 1995 and is still kicking ass. Scott uses special Drums Of Doom made of stainless steel. His hits with the sticks destroy every standart drum kit.
Karl Logan - lead guitar, keyboards
Born on 28th April 19?? in the USA. Played lead guitar in the Heavy Metal band FALLEN ANGEL. He met Eric on a bike race. Karl replaced Michael Shankle in 1994. In my opinion Karl is the ideal guitarist for Manowar. His style is very fast and his skill is really exceptional.
Ross The Boss Friedman - guitars, keyboards
(from 1980 to 1988)
Born on 3th January 19?? in Australia. Moved in New York City and played guitar for THE DICTATORS since 1975. Released 3 albums with them. Worked for 1 year for "Shaking Street". He met Joey in England during the "Heaven And Hell" Tour. Ross and Joey at once shared their love for pure True Metal and founded Manowar in 1980. Ross left the band in 1988 after six great albums. He prefered to play blues in THE DICTATORS and THE SPINATRAS.
Michael Shankle - guitars
(from 1989 to 1993)
Shankle joined the band in 1989. Played for a while for "Chicago", before he was chosen from about 150 guitarists to replace Ross The Boss. He playes in only one album - "The Triumph Of Steel".
Rhino - drums, percussion
(from 1992 to 1995)
Born on 24th December 19??.Rhino was chosen by Scott to replace him for several years. He playes in only one album - "The Triumph Of Steel". His solo "Armor Of The Gods" from "Achilles" is a real masterpiece.
Donny Hamzik and Karl Kennedy - drums, percussion
Donny Hamzik was born in Poland. He playes only in "Battle Hymns". He left Manowar in 1982. Karl Kennedy was in the band in 1980. Hamzik and Kennedy were found from newspaper advertisements.
