The Mansfield Lions Club recently presented the Mansfield Public Library
with two computers, as part of the Library's project to improve library
services to people with disabilities, and in memory of past Lions President
Joseph Pasquale. The donation is a part of the Mansfield Lions Sight First
Campaign.
The Mansfield Library Board of Trustees purchased two new wheelchair
accessible workstations in honor of Trustee Emeritus Vivian Sweet. In order
to make these work stations more accessible, the Board purchased two 22"
computer monitors, and the Mansfield Lions Club purchased two computers.
Large-print keyboards, purchased with federal LSTA grant funds, administered
by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, complete the project.
One of the computers has JAWS, a software program that makes the internet,
our online catalog, and word processing available to people who are blind.
The other computer has MAGic, a software program for magnification for folks
who are visually impaired. Both programs were purchased with grant funds,
and the library staff will soon receive training in their use. Please call
the library at 508-261-7380 if you need additional information.
Used eyeglasses and hearing aids can be donated to Lions collection boxes
located at the Library, Post Office, and Hayden Optometrists on North Main.
These eyeglasses and hearing aids are recycled and given to needy
individuals throughout the world.
The Lions meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday at the Tahana Restaurant. For
