Later he studied Tai Zu Chang Chuan under shifu Li Shi Min and in the 50's he met his main instructor, shifu Hao Pin, who taught him Tai Ji Mei Hua Tang Lang.
In 1982 at the Shandong competition and in 1983 at the Xian competition (both of them national tournaments) he obtained the Golden medal. In 1983 he received the title of "Mei Hua Tang Lang Grandmaster" and in 1988 his name was entered in the "Dictionary of Styles and Grandmasters of Chinese Wushu".
Shifu Chen Xue Kun used to say that "all these things were possible due to the teachings obtained from his masters who taught them fist by fist and kick by kick until he learnt correctly all their secrets, the help from his gong fu brothers and his personal effort, training day and night". His masters not only taught him the martial arts, but also the philosophy accompanying the art.
Shifu Chen Xue Kun was Buddhist monk and director of the Qin Dao Tang Lang Quan Research Association as well as director of the Chinese Tang Lang Quan Association. He used to teach Tai Ji Mei Hua Tang Lang in the Qin Dao gym.
