His name is also romanized as:
Ma Chen Shan.
Ma Zhen Shan was a native of Pingdu County, Shandong. He and his elder brother, Ma Zhen Rui, began their training at an early age with shifu Wang Song Ting in Qingdao. They continued to train until the Japanese occupation of Qingdao during World War II put a temporary halt on all martial arts activities in the city. After the war, Ma Zhen Shan became director and head instructor for the Qingdao 13th District Kuoshu Training Center.
Shifu Ma Zhen Shan was shifu Wang Song Ting's senior disciple and Gao Dao Sheng's older shi-xiong. Shifu Ma Zhen Shan was noted as the most proficient player of shifu Wang Song Ting's hu shou shuang gou (double tiger hooks) routine.
In 1950, shifu Ma Zhen Shan fled with the Nationalist government to Taiwan where he later worked for the R.O.C. Navy's Ocean Waterway Survey Department. He retired in 1972 and continued to practice and teach martial arts.
