Thomas Cowan was born on February 28, 1955 in Pennsylvania (USA).
Shifu Cowan began studying Fujian Tiger/Crane Boxing at shifu Steve L. Sun's home in 1980. Shifu Cowan has augmented his training under shifu Sun by studying Northern and Southern Weapons under shifu Sun Po Wen, and sparring under shifu David Sun. Currently, shifu Cowan holds a ranking of third tuan, and coaches sparring at the Siu Lum Studio.
