Born in 1935, in Cui Tan village, Laiyang County, Shandong Province.
Shifu Wang Yuan Qian started learning under his father, shifu Wang Yu Shan around 1941.
His maternal grandfather was shifu Song Zi De but shifu Wang Yuan Qian did not have the chance to train with him because his grandfather passed away when he was under one year old.
Shifu Wang Yuan Qian would practice twice a day under his father's guidance (shifu Wang Yu Shan) and train the rest of the day on his own. It was a harsh schedule but it was the necessity of traditional training.
When shifu Wang Yuan Qian mastered the entire system of Mei Hua Tang Lang Quan, for the next twelve years he would accompany his father, shifu Wang Yu Shan, assisting him in teaching boxing.
In 1970 shifu Wang Yuan Qian officially started teaching Praying Mantis Boxing.
In the early 80's shifu Wang Yuan Qian became the martial arts coach of the Qingdao Medical University and participated in the National Martial Arts Survey campaign performing the last three sections of the "Eight Elbows" (Bazhou) form, which was taped on film. In 1986 he created the Qingdao City Martial Arts Association and became its president. Shifu Wang Yuan Qian was also a committee member of Qingdao City Wushu Association, Vice-President of Qingdao City Tanglang Quan Research Association and a consultant of Weifang City Tanglang Quan Reseach Association.
Shifu Wang Yuan Qian's biography is recorded in the "Zhongguo Wushu Renming Cidian" (the Dictionary of Chinese Famous Martial Artists), a book that records 6157 biographies of famous masters from ancient to recent times.
In July 2001 shifu Wang Yuan Qian travelled to St. Petesburg (Russia) brought by his Russian student (shifu Dmitry Moiseev) and that city became place of coming for many tang lang quan practicioners from all over Russia.
Shifu Wang Yuan Qian continued teaching Mei Hua Tang Lang Quan in Shan Dong until he passed away in 2002.
