BRUCE LEE AND I

Year: 1975
AKA: Bruce Lee: His Last Days, His Last Nights, Sex Life of Bruce Lee, I Love You, Bruce Lee
Starring: Betty Ting Pei, Danny Lee Hsieu Hsien
Directed by: John Lomar

I purchased this movie thinking it is the only Shaw Brothers movie based on the Bruce Lee saga. However, after watching it, I felt what a great deal of dissapointment. The movie starts out with Bruce driving his Mercedes to Betty Ting Pei's house. Betty Ting Pei was the real life actress in whose house Bruce Lee had met his death by suffering a cerebral edema. They show alot of sex scenes that are very close to being pornographic. The actor portraying Bruce Lee hardly even looks like him. They should have picked Bruce Li instead. Nothing in this movie even comes close to the real Bruce Lee story except for the Mercedes(even that was the wrong color). The movie focuses on Betty Ting Pei and not Bruce Lee. They kept showing her trying to become an actress but having her body get in the way. She was viewed as a sex symbol and not an actress. There are several scenes where they call her on the set and ask her to strip and obviously she acts surprised and refuses to do so. They also show Bruce smoking dope and getting drunk. Overall, even the worse Bruce Le movie is better than this one.
