BRUCE LEE IMMORTAL DRAGON

Year: 2001
AKA: Immortal Dragon
Starring: Bruce Lee
Running time: 49 minutes

Another lame documentary that just tells us all the same Bruce stuff we already know and is in every other Bruce Lee documentary out there. Mr. Narrator Guy goes through the Bruce story while were shown pictures and TV/movie clips. That's the problem really, it's all movie clips shown, there are only two short interview clips. We're shown an actress who worked with Bruce in the two Green Hornet/Batman cross over episodes. She has absolutely nothing interesting to say and I was wondering why she was even included at all. The other clip is an old clip of James Coburn talking about Bruce. The documentary also very briefly goes in the successors to Bruce Lee such as Sonny Chiba and Jackie Chan as well as the rise of American martial arts films starring Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Steven Seagal. The Bruceploitation genre is mentioned showing clips from the trailers for BRUCE LEE FIGHTS BACK FROM THE GRAVE, EXIT THE DRAGON, ENTER THE TIGER, and BRUCE LEE THE MAN THE MYTH. Brandon Lee also gets a minute (maybe) of mention. Even though the program has a slim running time of 49 minutes I was still checking my watch and the running time on the display to see if it was almost done.

Basically, if you're a kung fu fan or a Bruce Lee fan you already know everything that is presented here. It's Bruce Lee lite or Bruce Lee For Dummies. Buy this if you've never seen or heard of Bruce before, but that's probably impossible since even modern day have luxuries like electricity and television. This is the same as the version that's released by A&E Video, I think, but I don't know for sure. Either way I'd say don't bother getting this one even if it is cheap, go buy something useful like socks.
