This movie defies the shackles that have held Bruce Li back! In one of the oddest, yet unique kung fu films, BRUCE LEE IN NEW GUINEA is entertaining and fun to watch. Bruce is an anthropologist who’s really excited over an excursion to Snake Worship Island to find the mysterious Devil Sect. Well, the less-than-friendly natives give Bruce and company trouble and these lead to fights taking place on nice scenic beach shots. Their leader, the Snake Wizard, holds his own in the film and his snake style looks like it could do some damage especially against Bruce’s dress shirt.

Now, on to the kooky! Costumes range from bright swimming trunks, assorted robes, and gals dressed in nice Hawaiian native garb. Bruceploitation babe Dana (mmmm!) plays the Princess and basically gets no respect from her Snake peers who call her names like "slut". There’s also a love angle in the film and probably the most passion Bruce Li has ever shown onscreen. But face it, we want butt kicking. Bruce shines in this one fending off thieves who interrupt his jogging, Snake lackeys, and even thugs seeking the legendary Snake Pearl which looks like half a chinese medicine ball set. I cracked up a lot during the scene where the baby gets cursed. Great special effects guys! Wait a minute...was this even shot in New Guinea?
