Not really a full blown Bruceploitation movie other than Sammo running around fighting Bruce Lee style. He fights like Bruce using Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, escrima, and the nunchukas. He even uses the gestures, taunts, and "emits" the classic Bruce Lee cry. According to the Martial Artist's Guide to Hong Kong Films there is even sequence that has Sammo performing Wing Chun exactly like Bruce did in Way of the Dragon. If anybody wants to watch the two sequences side by side to confirm this, please go head. E-mail me your findings. Thanks in advance, so get work!
The basic premise has Sammo and Maka as cops who are a bit unorthodox. They're after this drug dealer guy, and that's about it. The story is really basic. The action runs a bit thin, but what there is it pretty good. Although I noticed two moves were wired assisted. Lau Kar Wing played the head drug kingpin and during his fights he was stunt doubled for falls and a few moves, while it appeared Sammo did all his own stunt work. Guess it's hard to find a stuntman with Sammo's build. Some of the edits weren't as good as they good've been. They were too quick and didn't show a whole lot. I haven't seen all that many Karl Maka movies, but he can come off a pretty annoying. Luckily, he wasn't too bad in this one, he and Sammo work well together. Watch for a scene with Maka signing karaoke and Sammo bustin' a move on the dance floor. Another funny scene has Sammo and Maka driving down the road in the bad guy's Mercedes. As the bad guy follows along behind the two go to work on the car, beating the hell out of it. Well as far a Bruceploitation goes, I like Enter the Fat Dragon better, but it's a Sammo movie so you're still gonna like it. Watch closely and you'll see Sammo's hairstyle changes!
