Nightscape
Your last cigarette
was back the road a piece,
while you're busy chasin'
demons in the night.
And all the dreams
you left back there to die
are back there comin' true
for someone else.
And what's the use in
makin' all them new rules
like so many promises
by the wayside?
Then you want the blues
to tell you all it's secrets.
Then there'd be no mystery left
up in the sky.
Do you really wanna stand
at that old crossroads
and watch love steal away
into the night?
Do think that you could
watch it slip away
on the nightscape?
Do think that you could
watch it fade to gray
on the nightscape?
Do think that you could

Kinda hard to picture you

with so many questions
'round all those corners.

nullify your anger

And hang out where old ghosts
are known to play

and wash away on a river

Then you finally see the devil
in the details. Too late.
