Aotearoa Vs Scotland Play by Play

1st: Stuart Cummings blows the whistle to start this group 4 stage match. After an  impressive  Haka, the maori will touch the ball first after Mackay's kick off. An early mistake from the maori give Scotland the ball deep in the maori half.

2nd:Inside the ten, Purcell grubbers through but Daylight knocks on attempting to dive on  the ball.

5th: An early penalty gives maori good feild position, but nothing comes of it.

6th: The touchjudge controversially calls Horne's kick out on the fall. Great position for the  maori, who lose the ball yet again. A penalty to Scotland for a high shot by Toopi.

8th: Vowles knocks on in the midst of a promising planned move.

9th: Purcell is penalised for not letting go of David Kidwell. Another promising position for the maori, who get another penalty, which they tap.

10th Call on the screen, maori go over the line, but appear to be pushed back. no try, maori play the ball.

11th: TRY!!! The maori get the ball out wide, Toa Kohe-love is tackled, and the dread locked Toopi goes over. Moari 4 lead Scotland 0.

14th: Daylight does well to take a high kick.

16th: Scotland get a penalty and kick for touch.

18th: Try Penny. Spreading the ball out wide, Horne dummies and sidesteps. He offloads before a Penny dummy and step scores a try near the posts Level 4-4.

19th: Scotland convert 6-4.

20th: Horne fumbles the kick off, but it goes backwards. Then Bell runs into his own player, giving the maori the scrum and field position. Rauhihi wrapped up on the last.

23rd: Mackay does well to take a kick and return it to the field of play.

25th: Logan is tackled on the last close to the maori line.

26th: While it isn't a skilful game it is very close, physical and fantastic.

28th: A nothing Scotland grubber is left by the maori fullback and Te Rangi has to kick it dead, giving the ball back to the scots.

31st: Toopi through a gap, but is ankle tapped by Mackay.

35th: Mackay makes a break and offloads, but no one picks it up.

38th: The Rock and Vowles come to blows in an agressive match.

39th:Captain Tawera Nikau and MacDonald have a skirmish, Nikau connects with a right cross to the jaw of MacDonald, who gets his just desserts. the Ref sends them both to the sin-bin.

40th: HALF TIME

41st: Gene Ngamu kicks off.

44th: Maori have a set of six within the 20 metre Scotland Zone.

45th: Good defence ensures the maori dont score.

48th: Both teams continue to make errors.

49th: Sean Hoppe makes a break, but runs out of support.

50th: TRY!!!! Kidwell. Ngaumu fires out a quick ball and Hoppe sprints through a hole, and Kidwell is allowed to stroll under the posts.

51st: Converted by Ngamu, Maori 10 lead Scotland 6.

52nd: Both players are back from the sin bin.

53rd: More good feild position from the maori. This half is all maori so far.

55th: TRY!!! Toopi. An inside pass allows Toopi to scoot over. Maori 14 lead Scotland 6

56th: Converted by Gene Ngamu, good to see him at his best again. Maori 16 lead Scotland 6

61st: Scotland have field position and need to score fast.

65th: Scotland come close to breaking the maori defence.

66th: Horne makes a half break, giving Scotland a chance. Maiden is able to grind to the posts and the Scots are back in this. Maori 16 Scotland 10.

67th: Converted by Crowther. Maori 16 Scotland 12.

68th: Penalty for Scotland and they get another chance.

70th: Try Bell. this one is goning to the wire Maori 16 Scotland 16.

71st: Vowles makes a break, but has the ball strpped from him.

73rd: Ngamu gets the ball and Scotland show no interest to charge the ball down so he kicks a drop goal and its over. Maori 17 lead Scotland 16

75th: Toopi makes a break, but Scotland scramble in cover.

76th: Moana drills the ball into touch. Scotland have at least 50 metres to be in drop range.

78th: 50, 40, 35 Scotland making one last effort, Horne kicks but ball bounces unkindly and maori cover.

80th: FULL TIME Maori celebrate their first win ever at a world cup event.
