Artillery of Djibouti
The artillery battalions of Djibouti have various specialized roles, but they all have something in common, they are support weapons. Whether helping to hold off advancing troops or firing on well defended fortifications, artillery are the real workhorses of the Army.
Antitank artillery is used for static defenses when the use of tank battalions would be ineffective.  Djibouti has yet to acquire or develope effective antitank artillery, but advances in technology make them closer to reality every day.
Heavy artillery battalions are not nearly as common as their smaller brothers, but make coastal defenses quite robust and can hit harder at a greater range.  The heavy artillery battalions of the Djibouti Army have gotten the nod to soon become the main artillery piece that the Army is based around.
Currently, light artillery battalions take care of the majority of the artillery support needed by the Djibouti Army.  While not quite as capable as our generals would like, the light artillery pieces are never-the-less effective in their current role.
Mortars are a incredibly effective force multiplier that any infantry type unit can wield to provide organic fire support missions on a short notice.  While somewhat short ranged, the mortars fill a large gap between hand held grenades and long range artillery strikes.
Self-Propelled artillery has long been a dream of Amry planners.  Mobile and effective at setting up sustained suppressive fire as well, the self-propelled artillery pieces will be joining the Djibouti Army as soon as all the quirks have been worked out of them.
