A TOUR OF NYC I, Marc, the groom, will be giving a little tour of New York City on Thursday, June 19th for anyone that wants to see a few of the sights. On Thursday morning (around 9), we will leave Long Island on the Long Island Rail Road --the LIRR-- train ($11 round trip). We'll be on the train for about an hour, and then it will drop us off at Penn Station in New York. Penn Station is located on 34th Street, which is also home to Macy's, where the Thanksgiving Day Parade is televised. From there, we will walk a few short blocks to the Empire State Building, take the elevator to the top (Adults $10, teens $9, and kids $5), and grab a great view of the city. Then we walk uptown about eight blocks to 42nd Street and Times Square, where we will take in the Broadway district, MTV Studios, and the huge three story Toys R Us, which has a real ferris-wheel inside. We'll make a lunch stop at McDonald's in Times Square, or any other restaurant in the area. And then a quick stop at Casey and my new apartment on 52nd Street. We will then jump on a subway ($1.50 per person, per trip) and head down to the southern tip of Manhattan to see the last stop on our tour: the Statue of Liberty. We'll take a ferry boat over to Ellis Island (adults $10, children $4). After that, we take the subway back up town to Penn Station, get back on the Long Island Rail Road, and head back to Massapequa Park. You can come along on all or any part of the tour you want. You can bow out at any time and just take the LIRR back to Long Island. If you stay for the whole tour, plan on being in NYC until around 6pm. |
