A hub is the simplest device you can find on a network.

It is used to connect several computers or devices to a single output on a network.

It does not need to be configured.

   It is a plug-and-work device.

It usually has an up-link and got 2 up to 32 input ports.

The 4/8 ports are more common, if you need to connect more than 8 computers,

it is better to take a switch to have a more efficient network.

A cheap efficient way to use it is as a repeater.

Its purpose is to receive and send the signals to all equipments connected regardless

   to their addresses.

In other words, it is like every computer is connected on the same wire than the others.

Its weakness is in the fact hat if every computer is sending data at the same time then

the network might be congested by too many collisions.
