sADJECTIVES ENDING IN ED AND ING | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
CROSSWORD 2 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
We often make adejctives from verbs by adding -ing or -ed(regular verbs) to the verb. Present participle adjectives are those ending with -ing, and have and acitive meaning. e.g. The movie was interesting. That book is really boring Past participle adjectives are those ending with -ed, and have a passive meaning. e.g. I'm very interested in that course. Linad was bored at the concert What is the difference in the following examples? 1.- I am bored. 2.- I am boring In the first example you are trying to express a feeling you have at the moment of speaking. You are bored because something is causing that effect on you. Maybe you are bored because the class is boring. In the second example you are saying that you have that characteristic. That's what people think about you So.... If you want to express the feeling someone has towards something you use -ed If you want to express the characteristic of something you use -ing |
