How about we start with a nice physical description! He stands about let's say 6' to 6'2" somewhere in there. He has the most beautiful blue hair...and lovely golden-yellow eyes. A thin face, small eyes, and a thin, drawn mouth. He wears a black shirt, perhaps slightly lighter, maybe charcoal pants (or white I think in the manga) and a strange white coat. The coat goes down to about his ankles, and the collar comes up high around his neck. On the right shoulder are some spikes that come out of a large round something or other...I've seen anywhere from 5 to about 15 or more...depending on the kind of picture. On the left he sprots a spiffy little skull, and various straps and other useless acouterments.
Hmmm...Now then, what is his role in Trigun?? I'll tell you. He is EVIL!!!! He is Knives' right hand man, and also the leader of the infamous Gung Ho Guns. He said himself that he filled the emotional void left in Knives when Vash went away...ain't that sweet...Legato is loyal to Knives until the very end. He adopts all of Knives' beliefs, and ultimately comes to the conclusion that the entire human race sucks and should be eliminated...including himself. This brings us to his end...near the end of the series he is ultimately killed. (I don't think he dies in the manga, only the anime) Durring his time spent serving Knives, all he wanted was to cause Vash the ultimate suffering...his death wasn't a total loss. Durring a fight between him and Vash, he took control of an entire town's population, threatening to kill them if Vash didn't kill him first. When this didn't work he had the town's people bring the insurence girls-Milly and Meryl-and then he threatened their lives. Vash had no choice but to put an end to all this, and had to shoot Legato. Legato died, but he did succeede in causing Vash the ultimate suffering by making him kill. Well...I think that's how it all fell, if you happen to know beter, just feel free to correct me.
Hmmm...what else, how about weapons, okay. Here is a little story I just read about, I didn't even know this before. As you well know, Vash lost his left arm in a battle against Knives, that was the destruction of July. Knives kept the arm and later 'gave' it to Legato. Yes, Legato's left arm was Vash's at one time. Therefore Legato has his very own angel arm, interesting, non? I doubt Legato ever gets to use it, I know he dosn't in the anime, right? I'm not to sure about the manga though. Other than the angel arm, he dosn't carry any weapons that I am aware of. I guess he could use the spikes on his shoulder to impale people...hmmmm.... His main weapon would be his mind. He has incredibly powerful mental abilities. He can comunicate telepathically, control people mentaly, and cause people to see terrible visions and illusions.
Getting to the end...I just have one more thing to touch on...his eating habits. YES HIS EATING HABITS!!! I DEDICATED AN ENTIRE PARAGRAPH TO HIS EATING HABITS!!!! *This is sad* Okay, there is a little difference in the anime and the manga, as with most things. Those of you who have only seen the anime should have noticed by now that Legato has an impossible sweet tooth, and is usually seen with a snack. Now, this is all so cute, but in the manga he's just a glutton. I don't really understand this, I mean look at him! He dosn't look like a glutton, I know that most people if they decided to just eat all the time would start to put on some weight sooner or later. I don't understand...but that's pretty much all I wanted to say when it comes to his eating habbits.
