From big cities to small but beautiful people: on Tuesday 10 July, my brother Arjan and his girlfriend Bianca became dad and mum! And the life of a new Bontje started. Tess entered this world in a hospital in Alkmaar, but soon afterwards she could already leave for her real home in Castricum (a few stone's throws away).

She received her first family visits within 24 hours after her birth. I hope she's a family girl... Well, I guess she appreciated it as far as she can possibly tell. It's amazing to have such a small human being in your arms. Incredible to believe that once upon a time, all of us have started this small.

Well, Tess, I wish you a long, happy and exciting life! I hope I can be a great uncle to you...
