Where to go on holiday this year? I thought it would be close to home this year. My new apartment and everything in it had already cost me pretty much and most of my savings were gone after making it look like I wanted. No wonder after a new floor, a beautiful but costly wall cover ('spachtelputz', no idea what that would be in English), new furniture, a new bed, curtains...The funny thing is, once you have started making choices what your home should look like, one thing leads to another just like that. Can I afford all that luxury? Well... just about... I also try (as several more experienced home-buyers around me have suggested) to look beyond the short-term costs. After all it is also a long term investment! But that could not go together with a far holiday this year, or could it?

It could! I decided to at last start my exploration of Latin America.  I've been planning to go there already for some years now. Why wait longer? So I booked the most promising holiday from the travel brochure for single group travels, a round trip to South Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. Single group travels? Yes, booking the trip by yourself but travelling in a group of other singles that ou most often have never met before. I have done so for a few years now and liked the experience. Hope I will also like the group this time, which will be more important than ever since the trip is three weeks. So far I noticed that two weeks with a group can already be pretty long. But if this trip attracts people more or less like me, we will probably get along and enjoy the ride.



The 'fun in advance' has already started with buying travel guides etc. Too bad I still have to wait for two long months! I am definitely looking forward to it!
