History of Hazzard’s Corners and Page Brook state: “Erasmus Ballard came here quiet early and died here, being succeeded by his sons Dwight and Harlow.”
Erasmus’s father and four uncles fought in the Revolutionary War, the youngest uncle (Joel Ballard) dying at the Battle of Long Island, age 18.
Erasmus bought property in Broome County, NY May 1812 from Thomas Joslyn, paying $650 (copy of deed on line) and property from William Hornby on January 18, 1837.
June 19, 1812 after Erasmus moved to New York, the War of 1812 was declared.

Sarah Salina BALLARD was born 21 Feb 1822 in Triangle Township, Broome Co., NY. She died 22 Jun 1905 in Painted Post, NY and was buried in Cooper's Plain, Steuben Co., NY. Sarah married Hial Rowley BLAKESLEE on 25 Apr 1844 in Triangle Township, Broome Co., NY. Hial was born 5 Jun 1821. He died 30 Nov 1866 in Cooper's Plain, Steuben Co., NY.
Erasmus married (2nd) Tamison PELLET "Tammy", daughter of Benjamin and Lucy PELLET. Tammy was born 1805 in Killingly, Windham Co., CT. She moved with her parents to Lisle / Barker, Broome County in 1815.
Tamison raised her two stepdaughters and bore Erasmus six more children, all born in Triangle, NY. 1855 NYS Census Town of Triangle shows Tamison’s parents lived close.
After Erasmus died, Tamison lived with several of her children until her death. She died 7 Jan 1899 in Lisle, Broome County, NY and is buried in Upper Lisle Cemetery (B-6, 64).

1. Harlow S. BALLARD (Erasmus) was born 12 Oct 1827 in Triangle Township, Broome Co., NY. He died 25 Jan 1902 in Arborville, York Co., NE from stomach tumors. Harlow became a leading citizen of Nebraska and is noted in the 1899 Nebraska Compendium of Biography, page 455. Harlow's farm in Arborville, Town 12 North, Range 11 West of the 6th Principal Meridian, Section 2, two parcels: 80 and 162.67 acres.
