Egypt Continued So we then went up the nile to Aswan, a short stop and a chance to see the sights that the Nile holds at this part of the river the sun was getting high in the sky so we all headed for the Mighty Nile and a quite boat ride
and then a stroll around Kitcheners Island, a throwback to Colonial English eccentricity.
The fallucas on the Nile sail majestically along in the same way they have done for centuries
In the afternoon some of us headed up to the Aswan Dam. Its a huge engineering feat but we were also aware of the great turmoil caused by its construction
So with Aswan Marvells behind us the next morning was a very early start 3am wakeup call .. uuurrrrgggh but then we found the temples of Abu Simbel. These were moved in 1964 stone by stone. otherwise they would have been drowned by Lake Nassau.
We hired a guide who was a gold mine of information. On 2 days a year the rising sun spills down the corridor of the Temple and shines on 3 of the Statues of the Gods.. and one is always in the Dark. the God of Death. These are the supposed dates of Ramses II Birthday and His coronation.
So our journey up the Nile comes to an End.. and we have to head back down river. In Aswan we set off down the Nile in our Fallucas for the next 2 days.
The chance to chill out and relax was welcomed by all
On our Journey Down we stopped at a Hidden Treasure . And the sights were stunning peices of architecture
So with the Sights and sounds of the Nile filling our heads we then moved onto Cairo..and the Pyramids..
The Sun and cloud added to the mystery of the site at Giza.
So our Journey Comes almost to an end
