FADE IN: The Hawaiian Island of Lanai

Eden and Cruz enter their hotel room, the next evening.

Cruz watches Eden throw her purse on the desk, cover her face and sigh heavily. "Let's not get disheartened baby, this is just one island."

She turns toward him, forcing a weak smile. "I know, I just felt that this was the place."

He walks over to her, places his hands on her arms. "You look tired, are ya ready to hit it? We'll get an early start in the morning."

"I'm going to take a long hot bath." She runs her fingers through his hair at the temple. "Maybe it'll relax me. I'm tired, but not really sleepy."

Cruz kisses her lightly on the lips. "Normally, I'd ask you if you'd like some company. But I'll let you go in to relax, I'm gonna relax right here in bed. I'll keep you a spot warm."

Eden stretches as she walks toward the bathroom. "I'm counting on it babe."

FADE OUT

Eden returns from the bathroom, drying her hair with a towel. Cruz is sleeping soundly. She slides in bed next to him, reaches to pick up a pamphlet from the night stand, flips through the pages. Not sleepy yet, she reaches for the remote and turns on the TV. It blares loudly and she quickly fidgets in an effort to turn it down.

Cruz stirs, "What is it?"

"Shh, nothing, I'm sorry, I'm just gonna let the TV try to put me to sleep, I'll keep it down."

"It's ok baby" He mumbles as he curls up next to Eden.

She snuggles down into bed, wrapped in Cruz's embrace and begins to lose herself in an old black and white musical she discovers on TV.

Enthralled in the movie, she drifts off and begins to dream.

Sleeping soundly, she smiles and reaches to hold Cruz closely.

FADE IN: The next morning: Molokai Island, Hawaii

Cruz is sitting at a table in an apparently deserted bar. Eden comes up from behind him, leans over to examine the papers he is studying fastidiously. Her hair drapes over his shoulder and he looks up, parting her hair as if pulling back a curtain to take a peek, and smiles.

Cruz: "Did anything seem familiar?"

Eden pulls her hair back and raises up. "Nothing.." She takes a seat next to Cruz, "I guess we were hoping for too much to think something might seem familiar." She reaches over to slide Cruz's papers closer.

Cruz reaches to slide them back. "Do you mind? I'm thinking here."

"Where do we go from here?"

Cruz shakes his head, "I think we can rule out the big islands.."

"Why couldn't Lisa have been more specific? Cruz, it may not have even been a Hawaiian Island. It could have been anywhere in the North Pacific that seemed tropical. It's just so strange that she didn't have a name. It could be Guam, the Marshall Islands, the Aleutian Islands.."

Cruz: "Don't stop there, what about The Grand Bahama Islands, The Cayman Islands, The Virgin Islands?" He laughs, "Now let's not go jumping the gun. She said the Hawaiian Islands, there's only about 20 of them."

She pulls the paper back, "What's this one you have crossed out?"

Again, Cruz pulls the paper back. Smiling; "Eden!"

Eden looks up, innocently: "What?"

He sighs, and in resignation slides the paper back. Pointing to the writing. "Actually, I've ruled two of these out, one is the Kaho'olawe which is an uninhabited island. No bed and breakfast on a deserted island. This other is the island of Niihau, it's called the Forbidden Island.."

Eden: "Oh, I've heard of that. Daddy knows some people there."

Cruz perks up, "Really? That may come in handy since.."

Eden jumps in; "Since you have to be invited to go there."

Cruz sits back in his chair staring at Eden, then breaks into a huge smile. "Uh, do you really need me for this?"

"Oh Cruz," She stands, "How can you ask that? I wouldn't have half the detecting abilities I have, if it weren't for you." She embraces him from behind, wrapping her arms around him and they both look again at the papers. Speaking softly in his ear, "But that's not all I want from you."

He turns his head to kiss her cheek. "Good, you had me worrying. Use me baby." They both laugh.

She straightens up, "I'll be right back, I guess there are no waiters here, I'll go get us something cold to drink. Are you thirsty? What do you want?"

"Oh, I don't care baby, whatever." Cruz pulls the cell phone from his jacket. "I'm gonna call your daddy and check in."

Eden is walking away but turns back, "Oh, keep him on the line so I can say hi."

Cruz punches several numbers in and waits. After several seconds, CC answers.

CC: "Cruz?"

Cruz: "Yeah Mr. C, it's me, just checking in."

CC: "How's Eden?"

Cruz: "She's great, she'll be right back."

CC: "You watch after her son". He pauses, "We took a plane from Nassau, landed in New Zealand last night, I have arranged for a boat to take us out to where Quinn remembered Kirk's island."

Cruz: "Do you have the coordinates? Or is he just flying blind?"

CC: "He seems pretty confident that he can find the place. So, Eden's doing ok?"

"Yes Mr. C, she's fine."

"Cruz, Sophia flew in this morning." He pauses for a reaction, receives none and continues; "She is ambivalent about seeing Eden."

Cruz: "She doesn't want to see her?" Cruz turns back toward the bar to see Eden talking to the bartender.

CC: "Oh no, she's dying to see her. Just afraid about how Eden will react."

Cruz, talking in a lowered voice: "Well, it's something that will eventually happen, it's inevitable that Eden will see her moma." He pauses, thinking; "CC, Eden and I were remarried night before last."

CC: "What? Cruz how could you do something like that? You have to know how much we wanted to be there. I think she needs her family. She needs to know how much we still love her.."

Cruz: "Of course she knows how much you love her…" He pauses as CC continues. "Mr. C?" Eden returns to the table and Cruz looks disdainfully at the phone, lays it down while CC continues to rant.

Eden: "He's gonna bring them over." Nodding toward the bartender.

Meanwhile Sophia walks into the room to hear CC's tirade. "What's going on?"

CC hands the phone to her exasperated, "Talk to Cruz. Can you believe he and Eden had a wedding ceremony without her family there!"

Sophia takes the phone, "CC, calm down…" She lifts the receiver to her ear. "Cruz, honey it's Sophia." She lowers the phone, and looks at CC. "There's no one there, he hung up on you."

CC grabs the phone and listens for a second before handing it back to Sophia. "He's still there, I hear voices. Cruz!" He shouts into the phone.

Sophia takes the phone back from him. "No one would want to talk to you when you're like this, let me have it."

Back at the bar, the bartender arrives right behind Eden and Cruz stands up to retrieve his wallet. "Did you get daddy?" She takes a sip of her drink.

Cruz motions down to the table, "Oh, he's on the line right now, not very happy at the moment, I'm letting him chill for a few minutes."

Eden reaches for the phone, but Cruz stops her. "I'm telling you, he's irrational right now."

"What's wrong?"

"He didn't like that we got married without the rest of the family."

She takes another drink, makes a face at the taste and sits it back down. "Let me have the phone sweetie."

Cruz looks over to the jukebox. "I have a better idea, let's dance Eden"

Eden laughs, "What?"

"I want you in my arms right now, I want to dance with you."

They stand together and walk over to the jukebox, Cruz deposits the change and Eden punches in some numbers after briefly scanning the music.

They walk to the center of the room and dance for several minutes. Eden pulls back to look into Cruz's eyes. "Suddenly, I feel scared." She hugs him tightly.

"What's scaring you baby?" She shakes her head, so he embraces her tighter; "I swear, nothing's gonna happen to you Eden. And we're going to find our daughter." They gently kiss and continue to dance, their body's close, cheek's touching."

Eden stops abruptly; "I, I don't feel well Cruz."

He immediately leads her toward the table, "Come on, Let's sit back down, what's wrong?"

An mysterious male figure observes them from the bar, the bartender goes over to him and he slips him several bills which he takes discretely and moves back to the other end of the bar. The man remains, watching Cruz and Eden.

Reaching the table, Eden sits and sees the phone. She picks it up to hear Sophia calling out to Cruz.

"Moma?" Eden asks meekly.

Sophia pauses for a second; "Eden, Eden baby?"

The color seems to fade from Eden's face and she drops the phone. Her expression turns to stone.

Cruz: "What's wrong?" He picks up the phone, "Hello? CC? what…?"

Sophia: "Cruz, Cruz it's Sophia, I'm so sorry. Is Eden all right? What happened?"

Cruz is looking at Eden and speaks calmly. "I'll call you back, and hangs up the phone, "Eden baby? What's wrong? Are you ok?"

Her expression softens, "I'm sorry. I just didn't expect to hear Mama's voice."

Cruz sits in the chair next to Eden, pulling in close. "Eden?"

She smiles sweetly. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I just wasn't expecting it. Maybe you need to call her back."

Cruz sits silently studying her face. Concerned at her brief change of demeanor. He smiles back at her. "Later. Are you ok baby?"

Eden: "I'm sorry."

Cruz: "Don't apologize, please don't apologize." He takes her hand and kisses it gently, "You know your Mama loves you, don't you?"

Eden: "I love her Cruz. I just didn't know what to say. I think I actually zoned out."

"What do you mean?" Concerned, Cruz takes her other hand.

"I, I don't know. It seemed like I faded out for a second. Like maybe I was gonna pass out. I think it's passed. Can we go back to the hotel so I can lie down for a while?"

"We're gonna find a doctor."

"No sweetie, just let me lie down for a little bit. We skipped breakfast, I just came in from outside, it was really hot out there. I think I just need to lie down."

"Of course, come on." They both stand to leave. Eden's drink half gone, Cruz's untouched. After they have exited, the man watching from the bar walks over to their table and removes the drinks.

FADE OUT

Eden and Cruz enter their hotel suite. Cruz takes Eden's purse and throws it in the chair, keeping one hand on her arm. "OK, come on and lie down."

"I'm not dizzy anymore." With a realization, she turns to Cruz suddenly concerned. "Cruz! It was that drink!"

"Why? What do you mean?"

"That drink! Something about that drink in the bar. I knew something wasn't right. Now I remember, it tasted like.. like the tea Rosalie gave me."

"How much did you drink?"

"I was thirsty, I had some, but didn't drink it all." Frantically; "Cruz! Someone put something in my drink!"

"OK, calm down Eden. We're gonna get you to a hospital."

"Don't let me go to sleep!" She pleads.

"Come on, we need to walk. Let's go." He grabs a jacket to drape around her shoulders as the door to their room suddenly flies open.

A familiar tall bald man steps into the doorway and the voice is ominously recognizable to the both of them.

"Hello Joe." He smiles broadly; "Are you ready to continue our game?"
