A proper chain of command is essential. Any request or questions concerning your command will be addressed directly to your division commander. If the request cannot be satisfied the division commander will contact his corps commander who in turn will contact the War Department. The only exception to this rule will be the submission of orders. Generally, a copy will be sent to your division commander, corps commander and the War Department. Your division commander may request a copy of your orders before you send them to the corps commander and the War Department. Please consult with him upon this matter. From time to time you will receive reports from various sources concerning the situation in your immediate vicinity. It is imperative for you to forward all important information to your commanding officer. Any breakdown of communication can lead to confusion and in turn disastrous consequences in the field. Your responsibility will be to forward all reports received from the War Department to your division commander. |
