Counterdance Reunion - '20 years on' July 29th 1998

Yes! the Beatles never did it - but Counterdance did! The founding members of the group finally got together for a reunion recording session at Mark's home in Huddersfield during the wet month of July 1998..

Jules was there from Boston USA, Jak made an impromptu visit from Los Angeles, Eli was there visiting from Berlin and Peter made it from deepest Nottingham.

Peter played guitar through the original custom built distortion box which amazingly still worked after spending several years in Jak's shack in the Mojave desert. Mark played Didjeridu and drum machine, Eli played an assortment of percussion and occasional wailing gutteral chants and Jules played soprano sax - Jules had to play out in the kitchen as he was too loud for the lounge.Jak arrived late in the proceedings and added percussion. We did'nt suggest he sing 'pretty vacant'

During the afternoon - Fourteen pieces were recorded via a stereo microphone direct onto a mini disc recorder, this included a strange cover version of 'Master of the Universe'.It was rather strange to play so many pieces during the day as in the 'old days' the band used to ramble on for hours on end playing a few numbers - It could be due to us being 20 years older with the perceived faster passing of time?

Anyway a good time was had by all and considering the unusual instrumental line up the old Counterdance vibe was still present.
